J.F.Catching Mayor Seabridge referred the request of J. F. Catching, Committee
Chairman for the First Christian Church requesting removal of a
Palm tree from the parkway at 8th and Urange Avenues to the Streets
• and Parks committee for study and report.
Vavra & The Clerk read a communication from the Huntington Beach Public
McDonald-
'Libr.trust. Library Board advising the City Council that the terms of trustee-
ship of Edith Vavra. and J. K. McDonald will e xp ire on June 30, 1954,
and at the regular meeting of the Library Board held on June 9, 1954s
a motion be made and carried to recommend to the City Council the
re -appointment of Edith Vavra and J. K. McDonald for another term
ending June 30, 1957.
Mayor Seabridge recommended to the City Council members the re-
. appointment of Edith Vavra andJ. K. McDonald to serve on the trustee-
ship of the Huntington Beach Public Library Board for another term
ending June 30, 1957.
On motion by Bartlett seconded by .Wood the recommendation of
Mayor Seabridge to re -appoint Edith Vavra and J. K. McDonald to the
Huntington Beach Public Library Board of Trustees for another term
ending June 39, 1957, was approved.
Fire Chief On motion by Wood seconded by Lockett the Fire Chief, D. G.
to super-
vise fire- Biggins, be instructed in accordance with the regz est from the

ing lease the lease dated November-11, 1952, between the City of Huntington
Beach and Southwest :Sandblasting Company to Donald Rampton, was
approved.
Donald Rampton appeared before the City Council and requested
permission to locate another business to be known as the Coast •
Metalizing Company on an area adjacent to that occupied by the
Southwest Sandblasting Company, and asked for an amendment to the
lease t o ' cover an additional area about 4.0 feet by 4.8 feet south of
the present leased area. •
Mayor Seabridge referred the request of Donald Rampton to the
City Council for advisement and study.
Bernie Bernie Donald of Sea -Breeze Bar-B-Q, locatecbon Highway #101,
Donald
appeared before the City Council and requested to use the area
under a lease arrangement for a parking lot on the ground not occupied
by G. R. Morgan for the kiddie ride lease arrangements, and for said
parking lease the City to receive 20% of the gross receipts;.
Mayor Seabridge referred the, request of Bernie Donald to the
Cauncil,. as a body, to take under advisement.
LW.Dye The Clerk reported the action of the Planning 'Commission of
petition °
denied the City of Huntington Beach in respect to the public hearing held
on the petition for conditional exception filed by L. W. Dye and
held on Tikesday, the 15th day of June, 1954s., for the purpose of
considering a petition for conditional exception to regulations
of the Districting Ordinance to permit the drilling for and producing
of oil and gas on property described as Lots 11 and 13, Block 1803,

R-1, and that the recommendations of the Planning Commission, after

The Clerk reported the action of the Planning Commission of the

On motion by Bartlett seconded by Lockett the recommendation
of the Planning Commission to.. approve the petition for conditional
exception requested by L. A. Schager and Evelyn Schager for permis- •
sion to erect three buildings on. Lots 18, 20, 22, and 24, Block 516,
17th Street, presently zoned R-2-0, to be used for parking,
servicing and maintenance of vacuum trucks and the like, owned and
operated by the applicant, subject to the conditions imposed by the
recommendations of the Planning Commission, was approved by the
following roll call vote: •

The City Council excused the City Attorney from attending the
next meeting of the City Council due to representing the City at a
hearing.in Sacramento.
On motion by Wood seconded by Bartlett the regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach adjourned until
