431 MINUTES Council Chamber, City Hall Huntington Beach, California Tuesda7m September 7, 1954 Mayor Seabridge called the regular meeting of the City Council of the bity of Huntington Beach to order at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Councilmen present: Lockett, Wood, Bartlett., LeBard, Seabridge Councilmen absent: None J.P.Green The Clerk read the request of John P. Green,. float (40 Acres) specialist, requesting the City to lease approximately 200' by 200' of ground space on the City's 40 acre tract on Newland Street, for purpose of constructing a building approximately 70' by 100' for the construction and maintenance of parade floats. John Green appeared before the City Council and related his present position and stated he has been using the building at the Garrish Bros, Aircraft Engine Repair place for building his floats, and it was very unsatisfactory and a fire hazard and desired to erect a building with sufficient clearance from any nearby structures. Mayor Seabridge referred the request ofa,John P. Green to the Building Committee for study.and report. M., September 7, 1954, and asked the City' Clerk to read the Bushard St. legal notice. The Clerk read the legal notice published in the Hunt- ington Beach News on August 12, 19549 calling for a public hearing in accordance with provisions of Resolution No. 122L, a resolution of intention of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach to vacate a portion of Bushard Street in said City and giving notice of a hearing on said vacation. City Attorney Bauer stated that the Southern Counties Gas Company of California, had contacted his office and stated they have an easement in the area to be vacated, and Attorney Bauer suggested that further checking into the easement rights would have to be made with the County: J • `f 0IN Page #3 Minutes - Tuesday, September 7, 1954 On motion by LeBard seconded by Bartlett the public hear- ing to vacate a portion of Bushard Street in the City of Hunting- ton Beach be continued until 8:00 otclock P.M., September 20, 1954, was approved. • Pub:Hrg.- Mayor Seabridge opened the hearing for the proposed const- Constr.side- walks- ruction of sidewalks on Frankfort Street and instructed the Frankfort St. Clerk to read the copy of notice posted by the Street Superin- tendent: • The Clerk read the copy of notice filed by Harry A. Overmyer, Street Superintendent, giving notice to construct a portland cement concrete sidewalk in front of property fronting on the street, in accordance with standard specifications on file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of Huntington Beach, and that all sidewalks shall be at the location and grade • established by the City Engineer, and if said sidewalk work is not commenced within 60 days from the date of the notice, dili- gently and without interruption to completion, the Superintendent of 'Streets will cause the work to be done, and the cost of the same shall be a lien on said property. All property owners or other interested persons having. objections to the proposed im- provement work are notified to attend the meting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach to be held at the City Council Chamber of the City Hall, of said City on the 7th day of September, 1954, at the hour of 8:00 P.M. when objections will be heard and be given due consideration.
