Pursuant to adjournment of the regular meeting on Monday,
January 3, 1955, Mayor Seabridge called the adjourned meeting
to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M.
Councilmen present: Terry, Lockett, Bartlett, LeBard, Seabridge
Councilmen absent: None
Business On motion by Lockett seconded by Terry the applications for
Licenses
license to conduct business in the City were granted as follows:
D. F. Bloom Company of Bakersfield, oil well service.
Mutual Roof & Specialty Company, roofing contractor,
Joe Hart, oil field photo service.
New Well, On motion by Bartlett seconded by Terry the application for
Atlanta
Com.#6 oil well permit of Standard Oil Company of California to drill a
new well Atlanta Community No. 6, was granted.
New Well, On motion by Bartlett seconded'by LeBard the application for
Atlanta
Com.#5 oil well permit of Standard Oil Company of.California to drill a
new well Atlanta Community No. 5, was granted.
Deepen Well, On motion by LeBard seconded by Lockett the application for
C-26
oil well permit of Southwest Exploration Company to deepen Well
No. C-26, was granted.
Deepen Well, On motion by Bartlett seconded by LeBard the request of South-

On motion by Lockett seconded by LeBard the application for
oil well permit of Milton Barratt and Ernest W. Bysshe, Jr.,
to drill a new well Van Leuvan No. 1 to be located on Lot 17,.
Block 202; Huntington Beach Tract, was granted.
On motion by Terry seconded by Bartlett the request of D.
Niccole for permission to connect to the Lake Street Interceptor
Sewer Line to Block 402, Huntington Beach Tract, and to bear the
excavation permit expense and work be subject to the supervision
of the City Engineer, was approved. -
On motion by Bartlett seconded by LeBard.the-request of
Beloil Corporation for permission -to cut the curb for driveway
for�ingress and egress to Lots 34, 36,.38, and 4.0, Block 201,
Huntington Beach Tract, and said work to be done under the super-
vision of the City Engineer, was approved.
On motion by Lockett seconded by Bartlett the request of M.
J Barratt and Ernest W. Bysshe, Jr,, for -permission to remove a
tree from the parkway on Lot 17, Block 202, Huntington Beach
Tract, at their own expense, and under the supervision of the City
Engineer, was approved. -
The Clerk read a communication from the Traffic Safety Com-
mittee of --the Business and Professional Women of Huntington Beach,
requesting the City to paint white lines on the streets in the
City of Huntington Beach, and to give them a report on the action
of the City Council since the original proposal was made last
February, and said report to note the progress and what has been
done towards the painting of white lines on the streets in the
City of Huntington'Beach, to contribute to the community's greater
safety.
The request of the Business and Professional Women;.of Hunting-
ton Beach for the report on the progress of the painting of white
lines on the streets in Huntington Beach was referred by the
Council to the appropriate official to report,
On motion by Bartlett seconded by Lockett the Fireman's Fund
Indemnity Company electrician's Bnnd No. L-134066 on behalf of
Clive E. LeVore, dba Santa Ana Electric Company, and as approved
for form by the City Attorney be accepted and ordered filed, was
approved.
The Clerk read the lease between the City of .Huntington Beach
and Henri Garrish and John Garrish giving the lessee the right to
use certain property owned by.the City of Huntington Beach on the
property adjacent to the abandoned Municipal Sewage Plant and said

lease to run for a term of five- years. .
On -motion by Lockett seconded by LeBard that the Mayor and
the City Clerk be authorized to execute,a lease.on behalf of
the City between the City of Huntington Beach and Henri Garrish
and.,John Garrish subject to a -modification for the right of lessee
to move building or buildings as outlined by the Building Com-
mittee, was approved.

The Clerk read Resolution No. 1233', an order of the City
vacating

On motion by Bartlett seconded by LeBard Resolution No. 1233`
was passed and adopted by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Terry, Lockett, Bartlett, LeBard, Seabridge
NOES; Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilmen: None
J.S..Barrett The Clerk read the modification proposals for the contract
to proceed
with constr-. covering construction of a reinforced concrete storm drain on
storm drain
7th St. . - Seventh Street presented by J..S. Barrett to the City Engineer,
which had been reviewed by the Streets and Parks Committee.
On motion by LeBard seconded by Terry that J. S. Barrett,
General Contractor, be instructed to proceed with,the construction
and installation of reinforced concrete pipe storm drain in accord-
ance with provisions of contract that had been previously awarded
to him,- was approved.
Demands On motion by LeBard-seconded by Bartlett the demands as
approved by the Finance Committee be paid, was approved.
Vets.Foreign The Clerk read a request received from the Veterans of Foreign
Wars- permit
to operate Wars Post No. 7368 of.Huntington Beach, applying for a permit to
legal skill
game-. operate a legal skill game named "Conflict Quiz" in the Pavalong
Ballroom in the City of Huntington Beach. Curtis L. Barnes,
Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7368 of Huntington
Beach appeared before the City Council to verify the -request in
person.
Mayor Seabridge referred the request of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post No: 7368 of Huntington Beach for permit to operate a
legal skill game in the Pavalon Ballroom in Huntington Beach, in
accordance with the request contained in the communication read
by the City Clerk, to the Beach and Pier Committee for study and
report.
