HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-08-16MINUTES HUNTINGTON BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION Council•Chamber, City Hall Huntington Beach, California August 16, 1955 Chairman Stang called -the regular meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach to order at 7:40 o'clock P.M. - Commissioners present: Bazil, Schryer, Davis, Stang. Commissioners absent: Valentine, Bardwell, Presson. On motion by Bazil seconded by Davis the Minutes Minutes of the meeting of the Planning Commission of July 19, 1955, was transcribed and mailed by the Secretary be accepted and ordered filed, was approved. - Chairman Stang announced that at the hour of7.:30 o'clock P.M. was set for a public hearing on a petition for conditional exception, and requested the Secretary to read the petition. The Secretary read the petition for conditional Russell B. exception filed by Russell B. Watkins of Long Beach, Calif - Watkins ornia, requesting permission to drill an, oil well in the R-1, petit.for Zone, located in the east half of the southeast quarter cond.except.gf Section 13, township 6 South, Range 11 West, and said recommended location being 1,695;feet south and 1,870 feet east from to Council the center line of Section 13, Towship 6 South, Range 11 West, and the Secretary read the legal notice of - public hearing setting the hearing for 7:30 o'clock P.M. Tuesday, the 16th day of August, 1955. The Secretary reported that he had received no verbal or written statements for or against the petition for conditional exception filed by Russell B. Watkins to drill an oil well in the location of property as described in the petition as read by the Secretary. There being no statements filed verbally or writ- ten and no one present made any statements, the Chairman declared`the hearing closed. On motion by Davis seconded by Schryer the Plan- ning Oommission of the City of Huntington Beach recommend to the -City Council the granting of the variance requested by Russell B. Watkins on the property described in the peti- tion as read by the Secretary, subject to the following con- ditions: 1. Such operations and construction:.shall be Inn con- formity with Huntington Beach Ordinance Code provisions. 2. The uses permitted shall not be construed as per- mitting rotary mud dumps,_•sumps or disposal of petroleum refining or processing or storage of oil, gas in tanks exceeding 1,000 barrel capacity, or storage in any tank exceeding 16 feet in height from ground of surrounding land. 3. All service equipment such as top of well,, pumps, tanks, and like shall be at least 150 feet from the nearest portion of any public road, street or state highway, and shall also be at least 25,feet from any lot line which is not common with a public road, street or state highway line. 4. Signs shall be limited to two in -.number and each shall have an area of not over 12 square feet. 11 Page # 2 Minutes - August 16, 1955 H. B. Planning Commission 5. That the granting of the conditional exception together with the terms and conditions is an of- fer which is accepted and said terms and conditions agreed to if any of the privileges authorized are used. Motion carried. The Commissioners present reviewed the Tentative Map Tract No. 2832, presented by the Orange County Plan- ning Commission. -- On motion by Schryer seconded by Davis the Plan- Tent.Tract ning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach have no ob- No. 2832 jections to the Tentative Map Tract No 2832, as filed by approved. the Orange County Planning Commission, and subject to no particular conditions, other than as outlined was approved. The Secretary was instructed -to inform the Orange County Plaaning Commission that the Planning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach had no objection'to the Tentative Map Tract No. 2832, was approved.
