Huntington Beach, California March 26, 1956 Pursuant to adjournment of the City Council meeting of March 19, 1956, Mayor Seabridge called the adjourned meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Councilmen present: Terry, Lockett, Bartlett, LeBard, Seabridge' Councilmen absent: None On'motion by LeBard seconded by Lockett.the applications Business Licenses for license to conduct business in.the City of Huntington Beach were granted as follows: Joseph M. Perkins, 470 Ocean Avenue, Huntington Beach Check Stand Con- cession in the lower floor pavalon. W. E. Griffith, 1719 Cherry Avenue, Long Beach., plastering contractor. I. J. Pearson, Riverside, building contractor. Jack Chatterson, 215 Huntington Avenue, peddling auto -glaze, veteran's license. On motion by Bartlett seconded by Lockett the request of Wms.Chev.- Co.-perm. Williams Chevrolet Company for permission to cut the curb for two 20" to cut curb - foot commercial driveways to permit ingress and egress to Lots 11 and 13,.Block 103, Huntington Beach Tract, and said work.to be.done under the supervision of the City Engineer, was approved. The Clerk read a communication received from the Southern So.Calif. California Edison Company requesting the City Council to consider a- Edison Co. - request mending Article 944 of Chapter 94, Division 9, of the Huntington Beach • amend art. in ord.code. Ordinance Code, which will result in adding thereto a new -section to be numbered 9443.1, and to read-"9443.1 Steam Electric Generating Station". On motion by Lockett seconded by LeBard.the request of the Southern -California Edison Company for amendment to Article 944, Chap- ter 94, Division 9, of the Ordinance Code'of the City of Huntington Beach to provide a specific naming of a steam electric generating station as a permitted use in the M-2-0 District, to the Planning Com- mission for appropriate action, and processing'as expediently as pos- sible, was approved. Ernest Gisler appeared before the City Council and asked Ernest the City Council to take serious consideration for the removal of a Gisler large gum tree in the parkway in front of his home on Main Street. Mayor Seabridge referred the request to the Streets and Parks Com= mittee for study and report. The City Engineer reported to the City Council that he finds the problem of the demolition of the abandoned -Municipal Sewage Plant can be done more economically by force account than the City taking formal bids, and finds that the surface structures can be removed at an estimated cost of less than.$5,000.00, and said figure does not include removal of the equipment that can be sold for salvage. Councilman LeBard, Chairman of the Beach and Pier Committee, reported to the City Council that the Committee has investigated the problem of noise eminating from the roller skating.rink in the upper floor of -the Pavalo.n that has become so obnoxious in the afternoons to the concessions on the beach floor, and that to alleviate this condi- tion the roller skating rink operator ha.s'agreed to re -arrange his schedules so as to eliminate certain matinees during hours that the concessions in the lower floor of the Pavalon'are the busiest, and has asked that for consideration in making this change that the ren- tal percentage be reduced to 5% during the summer periods, but the Page #6 Minutes - Monday, March 26, 1956 present percentage in the agreement will remain the same after.the beach season .terminates.
