HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-05-15MINUTES HUNTINGTON BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION Council Chamber, City Hall Huntington Beach, California Tuesday, May 15, 1956 Chairman Bardwell called the regular meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Commissioners Present: Bazil, Stang, Schryer, Davis, Presson, Bardwell, Valentine. Others Present: Charles Diggs, Planning Consultant C. A. Bauer, Attorney Harry Overmyer, City Engineer On motion by Stang seconded by Davis the minutes Minutes of the meetings of April 17th and May lst, as transcribed and mailed by the Secretary, be approved and ordered filed. Motion carried. A brief discussion was held on considering re- ReLzoning zoning of certain areas presently zoned M-1 to an R-3 zone. On motion by Valentine seconded by Stang the study for re -zoning of the area between Hampshire Avenue and the easterly City limits be deferred until the next meeting. Motion carried. A general discussion was held on procedure for Annexation annexation of proposed area previously studied. Consultant Diggs again presented maps showing the proposed area under study by the Commission. City Attorney Bauer outlined to the Commission the legal steps necessary to process an annexation of the type under study and also read from the State Statutes the basis --for protests and who may protest an annexation. The Commissioners reviewed the annexation pro- cedure as outlined by the City Attorney and after due study and discussion determined it best to concentrate on a smaller area wherein the majority of property owners would be favorable to annexing to the City. - On motion by Valentine seconded by Stang the Commission proceed with the annexation study as discussed for the area as follows:- Yorktown Street easterly from Hampshire Avenue to City limits, thence north to Talbert Avenue, thence west on Talbert Avenue to Huntington Beach Boulevard, thence south to Yorktown Street. Motion carried. adjourned. On motion by Stang seconded by Davis the meeting Chairman Secretary ✓
