Mayor Terry called the regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach to order at 7:30
o'clock P.M.
Councilmen Present: Lockett, Bryant, Irby, Bartlett, Terry

Mr. Christensen representing the Duncan Miller Meter
Company presented to the City Council the new type of Miller
Mr. Chris-
tensen- Meter head and reported that he had examined the meters in the
Duncan Miller
Meter Co. downtown section that are now eleven years 01a and stated that
40% are out of service and many others requiring heavy main-
tenance care, and presented a proposal and contract for re-
placement of present Duncan Miller Meters in the downtown area.
Councilman Irby reported to the City Council his
observations made on a tour of the beach last Sunday and sug-
gested numerous corrective measures.
On motion by Irby seconded by Bartlett the Street

The Clerk read an agreement between the Huntington
Beach Company and the City of Huntington Beach giving the City
right-of-way for street purposes over certain parcel of land,
as follows:
The South thirty (30) feet of Block 1012, and the
North thirty (30) feet•of Block 908.of the Wesley
Park Section of the City of Huntington Beach, Orange
County, California, as shown on the ma,p recorded in
Book 4, Page 17, of Miscellaneous Maps and Records
of Orange County, California,

Clerk, was approved.
The Clerk read a resolution received from the Hunt-
V.F.W, ington Beach Post No.. 7368,.Veterans of Foreign Wars of the
resolution
United States, calling for the annexation of certain inhabited
and uninhabited territory to the City of Huntington Beach as
per the boundaries outlined on a map attached to the resolution.
On motion by Bartlett seconded by Lockett the Reso-
lution of the Huntington Beach Post No. 7368 Veterans of Foreign
Wars of the United States relative to annexation of inhabited
and uninhabited territory adjacent to the City of Huntington
' Beach be taken under advisement and filed, was approved.

City Attorney Bauer reported to the City Council

& gas Co. & the present status of the annexation and_tax suits between
Sowest Expl.
Co. suits. the Signal Oil and Gas Company and.t.he.-Southwest Exploration
Company, and referred the present findings of legal counsel
F• opinions on file with the City, and that there is presently
an appeal pending and that action on this appeal must be
immediate and consideration must be made by the Council,
whether the City desires to proceed with the appeal and face
the possibility of heavy legal costs against the possibility
of working out a compromise with the plaintiffs.
On motion by Lockett seconded by Bartlett the City
Attorney be instructed to communicate with the legal counsel
for the Signal Oil and Gas Company and'the Southwest Explor-
ation Company as to a possible compromise on the law suits,
was approved.

City Attorney Bauer reported to the City Council
the present status of the condemnation proceedings over the
Pacific Electric Railway right-of-way northerly of the

City Attorney Bauer was instructed to contact -the
Pacific Electric Railway Company officials and arrange for
a meeting with the City Council to discuss the condemnation
action.
City Attorney Bauer reported to the City Council that
notice of termination in accordance with provisions of the
lease with the City of Huntington Beach and John Green had

been made and the time limit had .now expired, and that the
lessee had not made any contact with•the City relative to
the notice of termination.
