HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-06-26MINUTES HUNTINGTON BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION Council Chamber, City Hall Huntington Beach, California June 26, 1956 Pursuant to adjournment of the meeting of June 19, 1956, Chairman Bardwell called the adjourned meeting of the Huntington Beach Planning Commission to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Commissioners Present: Stang, Presson, Schryer, Davis, Bardwell .Commissioners Absent: Bazil Vacancy: One Re -zone Chairman Bardwell reported that at the request of So.Calif. the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach by offi- Edison Co. ci al action, has requested the Planning Commission of the land, City of Huntington Beach to proceed id th the re -zoning of Reso.#37- the Southern California Edison Company land as requested by the Southern California Edison Company, from the R-1 district to M-2-0 district, and asked the Secretary to read the resolution prepared by the City Attorney initi- ating the change in district boundary. The Secretary read Resolution No. 37, a resolu- tion of the Planning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach initiating a change.in district boundary affecting a parcel of land owned by the Southern California Edison Company, and said resolution further resolves that a pub- lic hearing on the matter be heard by the Commission in the Council Chamber iu the City Hall, in the City of Huntington Beach on Thursday, July 12, 1956, at the hour of 5:00 o'clock P.M., and the Secretary be instructed to publish a notice of the hearing in the Huntington Beach News, and the area described in the resolution be posted in accordance with provisions of Article'925 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code. The Secretary read the use variance permit No. 3010, received from the Orange County Planning Com- mission relative to the application of Dave's Automo- tive Wrecking, for the establishment of an auto wreck- ing yard in the R-4 Suburban Residential District, to be located on the west side of Delaware Avenue approx- imately 400 feet south of Garfield Street, in the North Huntington Beach area. Turner for permission to establish a patio supply busi- ness in the R-4 suburban residential district to be located on the west side of Huntington Beach Boulevard approximately 300 feet north of Main Street and/or Ellis Avenue in the North Huntington Beach area. After discussion on the use variance applica- tion permit UV 3013, the folloAing motion was made: - On motion by Stang seconded by Schryer the Secretary be instructed to call the Orange County Planning Com- mission requesting that the applicant, James D. Turner, be required' to have the sign placed not closer than fifty feet from the front property line'and all mer- chandise and material be contained entirely in a closed area in the rear. Motion carried. On motion by Stang seconded by Presson the ad- journed meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of Huntington Beach adjourn until 5:00 o'clock P.M., July 12, 1955.
