M. Councilmen present: Bryant, Lockett, Irby, Bartlett, Terry. • Councilmen absent: None. Planning Commission studied the proposed North Annexation as referred to the Commission by the City Council at an adjourned meeting held on • December 11, 1956, and that the Planning Commission members present deliberated the pros and cons of annexing territory to the City and the problems to be met by enlargement of the City, such as the normal City's services, that must be given, Capital improvements that will be demanded, assessed valuation in relation to cost of services req- uired and what effect it will have on the present city's tax structure. Resolution The Clerk reported that the Planning Commission passed by a No. 40 pass- ed by H. B. unanimous vote their Resolution #40, a Resolution of the Planning Plann. Comm. Commission of the City of Huntington Beach recommending the annex- ation to said City of certain inhabited and contiguous territory to be known as the North Annexation and described as northerly of the north City limits easterly of Edwards and Graham Streets as shown and projected, westerly of Newland Street and southerly of Smeltzer Avenue. Resolution The Clerk read Resolution No. 1297, a Resolution of the City No. 1297 Council of the City of Huntington Beach consenting to the Commence- ment of Annexation proceedings for the annexation to the City of Huntington Beach of certain inhabited and unincorporated territory in the County of Orange, State of California, contiguous to the City 633 7 Wayne Ham to break curb Ord. #654 1st reading Recommend appointment Mary C. On motion by Lockett seconded by. -Bryant Resolution No. 1297 was passed and adopted by the following roll call vote:. AYES: Councilmen: Bryant, Lockett, Irby, Bartlett, Terry. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. On motion by Bartlett seconded by Irby the.request of Wayne Ham for permission -to break out 22 feet of curbing at the corner of Indianapolis. and Alabama Streets for the purpose of making a.drive- way fora double garage and said work to be done under the, supervision of the City Engineer, be granted. Motion carried. The Clerk gave the first reading to Ordinance No. 654, an Ordinance of the City of Huntington Beach reclassifying certain lands within said City from an R-1 District to an M-2-0 District, amending Section 9211.2 by amending sheet number 17 of the Districting Map of said City. Mayor Terry recommended the appointment of Mary C. Goodman to the Recreation Commission of the City of Huntington Beach to fill the unexpired term of Charles Murphy. On motion by Bryant seconded by Irby the appointment of Mary C. Goodman to the Recreation Commission to fill the unexpired term of Charles Murphy be confirmed and approved. Motion carried. On motion by Bartlett seconded by Irby the City Engineer be instructed to proceed with the construction of lateral sewer in Block 203 Vista Del Mar Tract-. Motion carried. On motion by Lockett seconded by Bartlett the purchasing Agent be authorized to request quotations on a new type Gar Wood Load Packer in accordance with specifications submitted to the City by the Gar Wood Corporation. Motion Carried. On motion by Bryant seconded by Bartlett the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach meeting adjourn to 2:30 o'clock P. M.,- Thursday,,January 3, 1957. Motion carried.
