Pursuant to adjournment of the regular meeting
of April 1st, 1957, Mayor Terry called the adjourned
meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M.
Councilmen present: Bryant, Lockett, Irby, Bartlett,
Terry.
Councilmen absent : None
Protest Mayor Terry announced that this was the

North time for continuation of the protest
Annexation
hearing on the protests filed on the proposed north
annexation and asked if anyone present had anything
to say or had anything to present. There were no one
present that brought up any matter relative to the
protest on the north annexation or had anything
further to file.
The Mayor requested the City Clerk to make his
report on the protests filed by owners of land in
the north annexation area.
the Clerk reported that in accordance with
Government Code, Section 35121, the value of the
territory proposed to be annexed, as shown by the
last equalized assessment roll, is 1,646,170.00;
that the total value of the land of the owners
making oral and written protests was $102,410.00
and that as City Clerk of the City of Huntington
Beach, be certified that the value of the land
on which oral and written protests were filed is
less than one-half of the value of the territory
proposed to be annexed as shown by the last equal-
ized assessment roll. The land value protests rep-

resented 5.22% of the total land valuation.
The City Clerk further certified that the value
of the possessary interests and/or mineral rights
protests filed was $243,180.00 and that the total
value of all written and oral protests of the land
and mineral rights was less than one-half of the
value of the territory proposed to be annexed as
shown by the last equalized assessment roll.
On motion by Bryant, seconded by Lockett, the
City Council finds that the protest made by owners,
both public and private, is less than one-half of the
value of the territory proposed to be annexed as
shown by the last equalized assessment roll. Motion
carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Bryant, Lockett, Irby, Bartlett,
Terry.
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT -.Councilmen: None.

Elect. to draw up a resolution calling the
election for the proposed north annexation and said
election to be held on June 4, 1957. Motion carried.
Excerpt of The Clerk reported receipt of excerpt
minutes -
Boundary of the minutes of the Boundary Commission
Commission. of
Or.Co. of Orange County, California, held on
April 1, 1957, and said excerpt of minutes reads as
follows:
"In re: PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY TO THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH (EAST ANNEXATION)
On motion by Commissioner Plumb, duly seconded
and carried, the petition for the proposed annexation
of territory to the City of Huntington Beach (East
Annexation) was received and ordered referred to the
County Assessor and County Surveyor for checking and

finds that the boundaries of the proposed annexation
are reasonable definite and certain.
Said motion certified by L. B. Wallace,
SOcretary, Boundary Commission of Orange County,
California."
The Clerk reported that the Planning Commission
of the City of Huntington Beach at a meeting held on
February 3, 1957, passed and adopted the following
resolution:

"RESOLUTION NO. 41
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH RECOMMENDING THE ANNEXATION
TO SAID CITY OF CERTAIN INHABITED AND CONTIGUOUS
TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS EAST ANNEXATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach, did at its regular adjourned meeting on the
27th day of March, 1957, refer to the Planning
Commission for report or recommendation the matter
of the proposed annexation of certain inhabited and con-
tiguous territory lying generally within the area
described as:
Easterly of the East City Limits of Huntington
Beach, to the Santa Ana River and. from Garfield
Street Southerly to the present City Limits of
Huntington Beach, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has heretofore
had the territory under consideration and has made
studies thereof and is familiar therewith; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the informal studies
made by the Planning Commission, said territory lies
within the zone of influence of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recognizes
that there exists in said territory certain structures

and building that do not conform with the present city
or county zoning and building requirements but said
buildings are few in number and will not interfere
with the orderly development of the area as a part
of the City of Huntington Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission finds that the said
territory can be better served with municipal type
services as a part of the City of Huntington Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission finds and deter-
mines that it is for the best interest of the City of
Huntington Beach that said proposed territory be annexed ;
NOW THEREFCRE BE IT RESOLVED By the Planning Comm -
fission of the City of Huntington Beach:
The Planning Commission: -does hereby recommend to the
City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that the
proposed inhabited and contiguous territory generally
described as follows:
Easterly of the East City Limits of Huntington
Beach, to the Santa Ana River and from Garfield
Street Southerly to the present City Limits to
Huntington Beach
be annexed to the City of Huntington Beach.
