Monday, July 1, 1957
Mayor Terry called the regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach to order at 7:30
o'clock P. M.
Councilmen present: Bryant, Lockett, Irby, Bartlett, Terry.
Councilmen absent : None.
i:'Iinutes On motion by Bryant seconded by Lockett the
minutes for the meetings of the City Council for the
month of June, 1957, as transcribed and mailed by the
City Clerk be accepted and ordered filed. Motion carried.
Monthly The Clerk read the reports for the month of
Reports
June, 1957 as filed by the City Treasurer, City Clerk
City Collector, City Engineer, Assistant Fire Chief,
Building Inspector, Lifeguard Captain, Manager of
Municipal Trailer Park, Supertendent of Recreation,
and Chief of Police.
On motion by Bartlett seconded by Bryant the
reports of the Department Heads for the month of
June, 1957, as read by the City Clerk be accepted and
ordered filed.
Hearing - Mayor Terry announced that 7:45 o'clock
Budget
P.M. is the hour set for a public hearing on the pro-
posed 1957-58 City budget.
The Clerk furnished everyone present with a copy
of the propose_! budget.
Mayor Terry asked if anyone present wished to make
any comments or to ask any questions relative to the
proposed budget. There being no response the Mayor
requested the Administrative Officer to take each sec-
tion of the budget and to make comments on the diff-
erences between the proposed budget and the previous
years' appropriation.

to the Board of Directors of the Huntington Beach
Chamber of Commerce from the Tourist Promotion Comm-
ittee and the Entertainment and Conventions Committee,
that the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce Board of
Directors suggest to the City of Huntington Beach City
Council that the event known as the annual "Twinorama",
Southern California Twins Convention, be re -considered
to be included in the City budget 1957-1958.
After considerable discussion on the "Twinorama",
Convention, Councilman Bryant moved and seconded by
Councilman Irby that the City Council re -consider and
include the amount of $1400.00 for the expense of the
Chamber of Commerce to put on the "Twinoramaf' Southern
California Twins Convention for the City was defeated
by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Lockett, Irby.
NOES: Councilmen: Bryant, Bartlett, Terry,
ABSENT: Councilmen: None.
Ther being no further questions regarding the
1957-1958 proposed budget for the City of Huntington
Beach, Mayor Terry declared the hearing closed.

bonding Company and the operator be notified of the
termination be approved. Motion carried.
Clean-up On motion by Bartlett seconded by Lockett

termination of the Glens Falls Insurance Company clean-

approving the annexation of the certain inhabited
territory designated as 'north annexation" which is

special election held in said territory on the 4th
day of June, 1957.

teration of buildings structures and improvements and
the uses of land in said district; prescribing penalties
for violation of any and all of the provisions hereof;
and adopting, by reference, the Orange County land use
ordinance as the same has been amended, said ordinance
being No. 351, entitled "An ordinance establishing
land classificati-ons and districts within the unin-
corporated territory of Orange County and regulating
the uses of property therein; adopting sectional maps
of said districts, defining the terms used in said
ordinance, providing for the adjustment, enforcement
and amendment thereof and prescribing penalties for its
violation", and passed on December 3, 1957, its first
reading.

On motion by Irby seconded by Bartlett the
Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to execute
the agreement between the City of Huntington Beach
and the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce for
the promotion and advertising of the City of
Huntington Beach for the fiscal year from July 1,
1957 to June 30, 1958, be approved. Motion carried.
