Mayor Terry called the regular meeting of the `'ity
Council of the City of Huntington Beach to order at 7:30
o'clock P.M.
Councilmen present: Lockett, Irby, Bartlett, Terry.
Councilmen absent : Bryant.
Canv-.sling Mayor Terry announced that this %as the date
balloto
special set for the canvassing of the ballots cast at
E-,Lection.
-6-57 the special electi:�n held on August 6, 1957
pertaining to the East Annexation to the City of Huntington
Beach.
The Clerk presented tally list of Precinct No. 1
to the City Council for official canvassing. The City
Council then proceeded to check and verity the list of
Precinct No. 1 covering the recording of the ballots
cast at the special election meld on August 6, 1957.

East read Resolution No. 1317, a resolution of the
Annexation.

canvassing the returns of the special election held on
Tuesday, August 6th, pertaing to the East Annexation to
the City of Huntington. Beach.
On Motion by Lockett seconded by Bartlett Resolution
No. 1317 was passed and adopted by the following roll call
vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Lockett, Irby, Bartlett, Terry.
NOES: Councilman: None.
ABSENT: Councilmen: Bryant.

Ord.r�669 The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 669, its
reading first reading in full, an ordinance of the
Ask City of Huntington Beach approving the annexation to
the City. of Huntington Beach of certain inhabited
territory designated as "East Annexation", which is
contigious to the City of Huntington Beach upon the
terms contained in the question submitted at a
special election held in said territory on the bth day
of August, 1957.

Company for termination of the Pacific Indemnity
Company clean-up bond No. 221712 for the Signal Me
Callen #1 well located eresterly from Highway #39 and
northerly from Ocean Avenue, having complied with
Section 2448.1 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code,
and the operator and the bonding company be notified
of the bond termination, be approved. Motion carried.

Huntington Beach, California, cancelling weed abatement
charges, for the year 1957, upon the Uity of Huntington
Beach tax title lots, in a total amount of $227.92.
On motion by Lockett seconded by Bartlett Resolution
No. 1318 was passed and adopted by the following roll
call vote:

in accordance with the request of Vim. Rardin, Assistant
Fire Chief, for permission to operate testing of air horns
at the Fare Station at 12:00 noon each day as the horns
have failed to work properly in the past from not being
used more often and this procedure recommended by La. -
France Alarm Company, manufacturers of air horns, be
approved. Motion carried.

and Pier committee for study and report.

the County Sanitation District No. 11 of Orange County,
California, approving annexation of territory, has been
received and filed.

State Highway Engineers relative to the pro,.:osed freeway
between the Santa Ana River and First Street at the Coast
Highway, and recommended study be made by the Planning
Consultants retained by the City.
On motion by Lockett seconded by Bryant the nroposed
freeway design as presented by t _e State highway Engineers
be referred to Hahn, 'vTise and Associates, Planning Con-
sultants for the City of Huntington Beach, for study,
report and. recommendations. I4lotion carried.
Pl anni rig On Motion bar Bryant seconded by Lockett the
Planning Consultants for the City of Huntington Beach be
requested to make a study of the sphere of influence of
contiguous territory to the City of Huntington Beach.

to the City Council, and read the findings of the
Fuller Paint Co. representative relative to the Ex-
terior painting of the Fire Station and recommended
no sandblasting of t-e buildinff, and proceeded to
read the bids for the exterior painting of the build-
ing, for the furnishing of all labor, tools, brushes
scaffolding, and equipment, and do all incidental
work necessary to deliver all the improvements com-
plete in place in strict conformity with the speci-
fications and special provisions, on file in the office
of City Engineer, as follows:

the Fire Station to the Esquire Painting Company in
the amount of $385.00 and the Purchasing Agent be
authorized to issue a purchase order in accordance
with the bid sulmitted, be approve. Motion carried.

Committee, the City Engineer be instructed to proceed
with the addition of a room at the rear of the Police
Station, in accordance with request of the Chief of
Police, and the expense be charged to the Capital Out-
lay Reserve Fund, was approved by the following roll call
vote:

NOES: Councilmen: None.

Hahn, Wise, and Associates informed the City Council
of the presentation of rough plan of the Streets of Major
Importance for the City and will present it to the Plann-
ing commission on August 20, 1957, and requested all that
could be present to hear the presentation.
