Councilmen present: Bryant, Bartlett, Lockett. Councilmen absent : Irby, Terry. Lockett On motion by Bartlett seconded by I4Iu-,-or Pro t em Bryant that Councilman Lockett be appointed Mayor protem in the absence of Mayor Terry, be approved. Motion carried. On motion by Bartlett seconded by Bryant the reports of the Department Heads for the month of August as read by the City Clerk be accepted and ordered filed. Motion carried. Library Board The Clerk read the communication of the of Trustees Huntington Beach Library informing the City Council that the terms of Mrs. Edith Vavra and Mr. J.K.McDonald as Library Trustees have expired, and at the last library board meeting it was moved and carried to submit their names for reappointment. On motion by Bryant seconded by Lockett the City Attorney be instructed to draw up the approiate ordin- ance creating a water department, Be approved. Motion carried.
