Pursuant to adjournment of the regular meeting of
the City Council of May 19th, 19589 Mayor Irby called the
adjourned meeting of the City Council to order at 7:30
o'clock P. M.
Councilmen present: Lambert, Bryant, Irby.
Councilmen absent: Terry, Waite, (Councilman Waite arrived
at 8:35 P.M.)
Texas Oil Co. On motion by Bryant seconded by Lambert the
term.cleanup
bond -Baker request of the Texas Company for termination
Fee #3
of the Travelers Indemnity Company clean-
up bond #T-3575, for the Barker Fee #3 well, located on Lot
20, Block 2002, V.D.M. Tract, having complied with Section
2448.1 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code and the owner
and the operator be notified of the termination be approved.
Motion carried.
Use Variance The Clerk reported that the Planning Com-
#119 filed by
Assembly of mission of the City of Huntington Beach
God Church
Yield a Public Hearing on May 20th, 1958, on
the Conditional Exception Use Variance 119, filed by the
Assembly of God Church, located at 611 - llth Street,
Huntington Beach, legal description of the property Lots
13 and 150 Block 611, H.B. Tract, and after due hearing and
consideration on the petitioner's request the Planning
Commission by a roll call vote, recommended the Assem-
bly of God Church be permitted to erect a Sunday School
Educational Building in variance to R-2 Zoning District
regulations of Article 933, subject to the following con-
ditions:
SIDE YARD WALL
1. There shall be a concrete block or other type of masonry
wall built to a height of five feet along the northeasterly

side of Lot 15, Block 611, H. B. Tr., excepting in the
front yard area where the wall shall be 3 feet in
height.
RETAINING GALL
2. There shall be a concrete retaining wall of equivalent
specifications and a continuation of that retaining wall
which presently exists on Lots 9 and 11 of the same blocks
except that steps may be provided where the applicant
deems appropriate.
RELOCATION OF EDISON POLE
3. The existing Edison Co. power line pole shall be re—
located from its present position on Lot 13 to another
location which is not within the area described as the
rear 30 feet of Lots 13 and 15 of Block 611, H.B.Tr.
The expense of the power pole relocation shall not be
borne by the City.
PARKING FACILITIES
4. There shall be paved parking facilities provided on the
rear 30 feet of Lots 13 and 15, Block 611,H. B. Tract,
requiring a changing of the site plan to locate the
structure 5 feet closer to the front of the lot.
LANDSCAPING
5. There shall be a lawn planted and maintained in the
front yard area of Lots 13 and 15, Block 6111H. B. Tract.
FINAL INSPECTION
6. The Building Inspector shall not place approval on final
building inspection, nor shall the structure be occupied
until all conditions of this variance are complied with
to. the fullest extent.
Use Variance On motion by Bryant seconded by Lambert the

Use Variance The Clerk reported the Planning Commission
#118 filed by
Fred C. Gonzales held a Public Hearing on May 20th,
1958, on the Use Variance 118,
filed by Fred C. Gonzales, of 10072 E. Russell Avenue,
Garden Grove, California�to permit a duplex dwelling unit
to be constructed in an A-1 General Agricultural District
in variance to Orange County Land Use Ord. 351, the loca-
tion being approximately 200 feet west of Hiway #39, legal
description being Lot 87, Tract 417, and after Public Hearing
and discussion the Planning Commission by a roll call vote
recommended approval of Use Variance 118 without conditions.
Use Variance On motion by Lambert seconded by Bryant
#l1B_ approved
the recommendation of the Planning Commis-
sion to permit Fred C. Gonzales to construct a duplex dwelling
unit in an A-1 General Agricultural District in variance to
Orange County Land Use Ord. 351, on the property legally
described as lot 87, Tract 417 and the Variance be granted
subject to no conditions, was approved. Motion carried.

re:bridge ,Santa Bryant in accordance with the re -
Ana River
commendation of the City Engineer, Ak
Sidney L. Lowry, the agreement between the County of Orange
and the City of Huntington Beach, relative to the design
and construction of a bridge over the Santa Ana River at
Hamilton Street, be returned to the County of Orange, re-
questing that Section B, of paragraph b, be changed to read
10% of the City's construction cost of Item A, of said
West approach to cover County's cost of design and inspection
field Engineering, and final reports and acceptance, be
approved. Motion carried.

Communication -Or. The Clerk read a communication re -
Co. Counsel
ceived from the County Counsel of Orange
County, informing the City that it is the intention of the
Board of Supervisors to make its contracts uniform as to
all cities to which it renders services, exclusive of
health, radio services, civil defense, and mutual fire aid,
and to serve notice upon the City Council that it is here-
by canceling all agreements with the City of Huntington
Beach, only those applying to the recent North and East
Annexations, such as Fire Protection, Road Maintenance and
Construction, which terminates on June 30, 1958, and that
the Board of Supervisors will be pleased to entertain
negotiations, enter into contracts for Fire Protection,
Road Maintenance and Construction, if the City so wishes
to continue such contracts and will be on a July 1 to June
30th basis and will run for one year only.
Communication: The Clerk read a communication
from J.A. Murdy Jr.
addressed to Mr. Al Thompson of
17725 Huntington Beach Blvd., written by J. A. Murdy, Jr.,
Senator of the 35th District, advising Mr. Thompson that
he had discussed with the District Engineer, Mr. Telford,
the matter of street lights opposite his store on Highway
#39, and that Mr. Telford informed him that the State has
not established the practice of furnishing street lights in-
side a city limit on the state highways, but that they are
anxious to cooperate with any city who wishes to have
street lights installed, and are willing'to grant permission
for proper and adequate lighting anywhere the City wishes
it, or that there is no State money available for install-
ations of this kind.
New Rates-Mun. On motion by Bryant seconded by Lambert
Tr.Park-July
lst, 1958 that the new rates be established at the
Trailer Park starting on July 1st, that the
due date of the rent on trailers, renting prior to July

1st be the due date after June 30th, 1958, and that the
daily rate be raised to $3.00 per day, and the daily rate
occupancy not to exceed over 30 days and said daily rates
be effective immediately and to eliminate the trailer park
weekly rates. Motion carried.
Purchase floor safe On motion by Bryant seconded by
Mun.Tr.Park Office
Lambert the Purchasing Agent of
the City be instructed to purchase a small floor safe to
be installed in the Trailer Park Office. Motion carried.
Order appraisal On motion by Bryant seconded by Lambert
on Tots 2 & 4,
Block 414 the Administrative Officer be requested
to order an appraisal by a competent
appraiser of Lot 2 and 4. Block 414, H. B. Tract, that Mr.
Fred Hermann has filed a homestead on, be approved.
Motion carried.
Ord.#690 The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 690, its second
27_.d reading
and final reading, an Ordinance of the City
of Huntington Beach relating to Stop Intersections in the
City of Huntington Beach, and adding Sections 6217.7,
6227.7, and 6217.8, 6227.8. and Repealing Sections 6241.21,
and 6243.21 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code.
On motion by Bryant seconded by Waite Ordinance
No. 690 was passed and adopted by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Lambert, Bryant, Waite, Irby.
NOES: Councilmen: None.
ABSENT: Councilmen: Terry.
