HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-06-09433 M I N U T E S Council Chamber, City Hall Huntington Beach, California Monday, June 9, 1958 Pursuant to adjournment of the regular meeting of the City Council, on June the 2nd, 1958, Mayor Irby called the regular adjourned meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Councilmen present: Lambert, Bryant, Terry, Waite, Irby. Councilmen absent None. Elect.Bcnd.- On motion by Terry seconded by Bryant Seaboard Electric the American Automobile Insurance Company license bond for Patterson Electric, a California corpor- ation, dba Seaboard Electric, as approved for form by the City Attorney, be accepted and ordered filed.Motion carried. Remove tree- On motion by Bryant seconded by Waite, Mr. Mrs. Clarence Hanson_ the request of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hanson, of 1202 England Avenue, for re- moval of a dead tree, next to the curb and driveway and re- moval necessary to construct a drive -way, be approved, and said work to be under the supervision of the City Engineer. Motion carried. H.B. Library Bd. The request of the Huntington Beach re: appointment Mrs.E.S.Tayloe Library Board of Trustees recommending the appointment of Mrs. E. S. Tayloe of 7902 Newman Street, Liberty Park, to fill the unexpired term of Mrs. Edith Vavra, was referred to the Mayor for study and report. Ass't.Fire Chief On motion by Bryant seconded by Lambert re: Seminar at U.C. at Berkeley 6/16 to the request of D. G. Higgins, Fire Chief, 6 20 58 —__ for permission to send the Assistant Fire Chief, V1. E. Rardin to the 5th Arson and Fire In- vestigation Seminar at University of California, Berkeley, during the period June 16th to June the 20th and minimum expenses be allowed, be approved. Motion carried. 1. 434, Page 2, Minutes Monday, June 9, 1958 Vincent G.Moorhouse re: Seasonal Perrvoi ��el The Clerk read a request of Vincent G. Moorhouse, Chief Lifeguard requesting the following number of personnel which will work 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week, for the summer season all of whom are qualified for the various classed of employment, 1 - Lifeguard Captain 5- Lifeguard Lieutenants 1 - Typist Clerk 35 - Lifeguards 4 - Lifeguard Trainees and attached to the request the names, classifications, and appropriate salary range. Vincent Moorhouse On motion by Bryant seconded by Lambert retest a -,,)-)roved the request of Vincent G. Moorhouse, Chief Lifeguard, to employ the Number of personnel for the summer season of the Lifeguard Department, as read by the City Clerk be approved. Motion carried. Reso. #1347 The Clerk read Resolution #1347, a Resolution of Intention of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach to vacate a portion of Crest Avenue adja- cent to Circle Park, and giving Notice of a hearing on such vacation. Reso.#1347 On motion by Terry seconded by Waite, Resolution do ated #1347 was passed and adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Lambert, Bryant, 'Terry, Waite, Irby. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: None. Petition of The Clerk presented to the City Council a ■ Annexation petition requesting consent for Annexation of certain uninhabited territory to the City of Huntington Beach, located north of Wintersburg Road and west of Graham Street, and informed the City Council that the petitioners whose signatures are affixed to the petition represent a very small percentage of the property owners of record. 2. Page #3 Minutes - Monday, June 9, 1958 435 Return Pet. of On motion by Bryant seconded. by Lambert Annexation the City Clerk be instructed to return the petition to circulators as'it is the City Council's desire that the signatures of property owners of record represent at least two-thirds of the assessed valuation of the area requested for annexation. Motion carried. Councilman Br;,rant On motion by Terry seconded by Waite 3 weeks leave of absence_yy the request of Councilman Bryant that he be given leave of absence for a period of three weeks commencing June 12th, 1958, be approved. Motion carried. Hahn,Wise,Barb^r On motion by Terry seconded by Bryant & Assoc.re: exten. of a,-,ree -e: t the firm of Hahn, Wise, Barber and Asso- ciates be requested to submit a formal agreement for the extension of the Planning Consultant agree- ment, for one year, to be effective September lst, 1958, in accordance with the proposal cn file , be approved. Motion carried. On motion by Terry seconded by Waite the regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach adjourn.
