Councilmen present: Lambert, Waite, Bryant, Irby. Councilmen absent: Terry. (Councilman Terry arrived at 8:10 o'clock P.M..) Richards, 408 Alabama Street, Huntington Beach, Calif., for permission to divide two 25 ft. lots with a total of 6375 sq. feet into two equal parcels with a total lot area of 3,187.5 sq. ft. each, said property being located at the NW corner of Alabama and a Public Hearing was held by the Planning Commission on February 3rd, 1959, the following motion was made by Davis and seconded by Schryer to recommend denial of DV ##121, the motion was carried. B. requesting permission to allow a model home with offices to be built in an R-4 Suburban Residential District, location being approximately 450 feet north of Ellis Street on the west side of Highway #39, and after a public hearing was held by the Commission on February 3rd, 1959, the following motion was made by Stang and seconded by Presson to recommend approval with the following conditions: 1. CURBS AND GUTTERS: That the installation of curbs and gutters shall be re- quired according to policy, except that the required bond shall be waived upon certification by the Engineer of the impracticability of such construction at this time or in the near future. 2. SIGNS: Only permanent lighted or unlighted signs as submitted to and approved by the Planning Commissionshall be permitted. 3. PROVISIONS OF NEW C-1 DISTRICT: The provisions of the C-1 neighborhood Commercial District of the newly adopted faster Zoning Ordinance effective on March 17th, 1959, shall apply and prevail, approved by - the following roll call vote: AYES: Liles, Schryer, Bazil, Presson, Sork, Davis, Stang. NO GARAGE WORK: No garage repair work nor motor tuneup operations permitted. 3. OUTDOOR DISPLAYS: All temporary or moveable signs or other types of outdoor displays shall be permitted subject to the discretion of the City Council. The City Council reserves the right to revoke the permit for temporary signs or other outdoor displays for any cause at any time. 4. Chief of Police On motion by Lambert seconded by Waite in to attend mtg. at Fresno - Feb. 19th accordance with the request of the Chief L 20th _1959. of Police to be permitted to attend the Attorney General's Joint All Zone Meeting at Fresno, on Feb- ruary the 19th and 20th, 1959s under authority of Section 12524 of the Government Code, and reasonable traveling and lodging expense be approved. Motion carried. Donald H. Hampton Mayor Irby referred to the Building Comm -- lease referred to Bldg._ Comm. ittee for study and report the request of Donald H. Hampton owner of Sandblast and Metallizing Co., requesting a lease on the lot lying West of the present lease property from the City and that if the request is granted to 10. 171 Page #11 - Yinutes, February la, 1959 have his lease rewritten for a five year period and if it is not granted that the present lease be extended for five years, and also he would be interested in purchasing the property from the.City that he is presently leasing and the lot lying westerly of his present lease property. Recreation Comm. Mayor Irby referred to the Recreation request re: Parks referred to Comm. Committee for study and report the request of the Recreation Commission for the City to accumulate funds for which to purchase future Park areas in accordance with the Master Plan of Parks and Recreation that was adopted by the City Council in December of 1958. -Beachcombers of The Clerk read a request of the Beach-- hznera.ce. action taken combers of America Inc. of 502 - 9th Street, H. Councilman `14aite re: printed notice~, etc.- - The request of Keith Davis for removal of a Palm tree at 509 -- 7th Street, and the request for lighting over a crosswalk at Newman and Liberty Streets. Councilman Waite made the following re- commendations that all Ordinances, Reso- lutions, and legal notices of the City to be published in the Huntington Beach News be printed in 6 point; The quarterly financial statement of the City be discontinued for publicat- ion; all proclamations to be approved by the City.Council and checked by the attorney for legal form; and that all advertising of the Chamber of Commerce for publication in the Huntington Beach News be reviewed by the City Attorney for legal form.
