Councilmen present: Bryant, Lambert, Terry, Waite, and Irby. Councilmen absent: None. Minutes On motion by Bryant seconded by Waite the Minutes for the meetings of March the 2nd and March the 16th, 1959 as transcribed and mailed by the Clerk be accepted and approved without changes. Motion carried. Monthly Reports On motion by Waite seconded by Lambert the reports of the -Department Heads as read by, the City Clerk for the month of March, 1959 be accepted and ordered filed. Motion carried. Hearing - Fire Mayor Irby opened the hearing con - Prevention Code _. tinued on the proposal to adopt by reference a Fire Prevention Code, prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion, and establishing a Bureau of Fare Pre- vention and providing officers therefor and defining their powers and duties. The Mayor asked if anyone present had any statement to make for or against the proposed adopt- ion of the Fire Prevention Code. On motion by Lambert seconded by Waite the amendment of Section 6, of Ordinance No. 712 as requested by the Fire Chief be approved and the Clerk be instructed to give the first reading of Ordinance No. 712 as amended, be approved. Motion carried. Request - Chief The Clerk read a request from the of Police — "throuEhStreets" Chief of Police reporting that upon the basis of a traffic investigation, that in order to facili— tate the orderly movement of public and emergency vehicular traffic, for the efficient use ,of the st4reets, and for public safety; certain streets should be designated as "through streets" and stop signs, be erected,to conform with Section 471.5•of the Vehicle Code, be erected at entrances thereto, and further request that the following streets be designated as "through streets" and the "through streets" to have four ray stop signs: Main Street, Lake Street, Frankfort Street, Palm Avenue, Seventeenth Street and further request that stop signs be erected along the requested "through streets; at those intersections not presently designated as "Stop" intersections by Ordinance Code Chapter 62, also survey reveals that stop signs do not exist at the following intersections along the requested "through streets", Main Street: at Walnut, Olive, Magnolia, Palm, -loth, llth, 12th, 13th, 14th, Loma, and Union. Lifeguard On motion by Bryant seconded by Salaries amended Lambert the City Attorney be in - strutted to amend the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code Sections 1591.33 amending the Lifeguard Seasonal rates to read: 1st year - 1.83: 2nd year - 2.01, 3rd year - 2.20, and with provisions to reach the 2nd year rating the employee must have worked 66 working days. To reach the 3rd year rate, employee must have worked a minimum of 132 working days. Section 1591.36, Lifeguard Trainee, Ist year rate - 1.599 2nd year -1467, 3rd year - 1.75, and with provisions to reach the 2nd year rate employee must have worked minimum of 66 working days. To reach the 3rd year rate employee must have worked a minimum dof 132 working days, be approved. Motion carried. Amend Card. - On motion by Bryant seconded by Create City License Inspector Lambert the City Attorney be in - strutted to provide amendment to the Huntington Beach Ord- inance Code, job classification to create the job classifi- cation of "City License Inspector", be approved.
