Pursuant to the •ad joumment +of
the meeting of the City Council of, January the 4th•, 1960,
Mayor Irby called the regular adjourned meeting to order at
7:00 o'clock F.M.
Councilmen Present: Sork, Lambert,, Waite, Irby.
Councilmen Absent:-, Terry.
' Bids -Water distrib. Mayor Irby announced that the
main-, Smeltzer Ave..
hour of 7:00 o'clock P.M. this
date was set to open and receive bids for'the construction
and installation of a water distribution main on Smeltzer
Avenue and requested the Clerk to open and read the bids
received. .
The Clerk opened and read the

City Engr, for study
Waite the bids be referred to the
City Engineer for study, analysis and recommendations, be
,approved. Motion carried,

Well -Mitchell ;1_ Lambert the request of the Royalty
Service Copporation, Ltd-. for - termination of the Hartford
Indemnity Company drilling bond No. 2342561, covering well
Mitchell No. 1, located on Lot 25, Block 516, Huntington
Beach Tract, having complied with -the requirements of -Sec-
tion 2427.3 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code, and the
bonding company and the operator be notified of the bond
termination, be approved. Motion carried.

complied with Section 2448'.1 of the Huntington Beach Ordin-
ance Code, and the owner and operator be notified of the bond
termination, be.approved. -Motion carried.
2nd Reading-Crd.#748 The'Clerk gave second reading of
West Annex. No • 2
Ordinance•No.- 748-by title, An Ord-
inance of the City of Huntington Beach approving the annex-
ation of certain uninhabited territory designated as "West
Annexation No.- 2" to the City of Huntington Beach.
Ord. No. 748 adopted On motion by Sork seconded by
Lambert Ordinance No. 748 was passed and adopted by the follow-
ing roll call yote:a

NOES: Councilmen: None.

Crippled Children &
Adults, -Inc. to -the request of the Orange County
sell lapel pins'-
Ap,ril 8th & 9th. 1960 Society for Crippled Children and
Adults,.Inc. for permission to sell paper lapel Easter Lilies
on the streets of Huntington Beach on April 8th and 9th as
part of the 1960 Easter Seal Compaign, be granted. Motion
carried.

On motion by, Lambert .seconded by
Waite the request of James R. Wheeler,
City Engineer, and William L. Lewis,
Street Superintendent to attend the Highway Conference to be
held at U.C.L.A. during the days of January 28, 29, and 30,
1960, and reasonable expenses -be permitted and said funds to
pay for the expense are available from Gas Tax Funds per
Section 2107.5. Streets and Highways Code, be approved.

Joyce Johnson employed On motion by Waite seconded by Sork
as Park.Control Officer
in accordance with the request of
the Chief of police and recommended by the Personnel Officer
that Joyce Johnson•be employed as -Parking -Control Officer,
in the appropriate salary range and bracket, was approved by

the joint all zone meeting of Chiefs of Police and Sheriffs,
to be held at Fresno on January 21st and 22nd, 1960, in
accordance with the call of the Attorney General, State of
California, and reasonable expenses be permitted to attend
the conference and City vehicle to be used as transportation,
be approved. Motion carried.
Request of Wm. Lewis Assistant City Engineer, Wm. L. Lewis,
for further time to
study bids -water distr. reported to the City Council on the
main-Smeltzer Ave..,_____,__
bids received for the water main
distribution to be constructed on Smeltzer Avenue and re-
quested that further time be given to review the bids and to
report to the City Council at the meeting held on January
the 18th, 1960.

Electric Railway, the Mills Land and Water Company and the
City of Huntington Beach, relative to the $450,000.00 pro-
posed settlement offered by the State Highway Division for
the 100 ft. strip of right-of-way between Huntington Avenue
and State Highway #39 at Ocean Avenue,

for C.it Dept., City Council on the space occupied
by the Chamber of Commerce and stated that the space is needed
by the departments and that certain action should be taken.

posed use of the Foyer and the Committee room of the Memorial
Hall for temporary quarters and with certain petitioning to
be done and proposal of putting glass doors in the entrance
in place of the present wooden doors and suggest that the
matter be brought up again at the Council meeting of January
the 18th, 1960.
