HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-07-25MINUTES Council Chamber, City Hall Huntington Beach, California Monday, July 25, 1960 The regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach was called to order by the City Clerk at 6:00 o'clock P.M. Councilmen Present: Wells, Lambert, Stewart, Waite. Councilmen Absent: Gisler. The Pledge of Allegiance was given by all present in the Council Chamber. The Clerk announced tYatsitthe absence of Mayor Gisler, the first order of business would be the election of a Mayor Pro-Tem. Councilman Lambert- On motion by Waite, seconded by appointed Mayor Pro -Teen Stewart, Councilman Lambert was designated to be Mayor Pro-Tem for the meeting. Motion.carried. The City Clerk turned the gavel over to Mayor Lambert. Minute Excerpt- The Clerk read the following exerpt O r . Co. 3_o uncl ary Co-,mrL from the minutes of the Boundary Commission of Orange County meeting held on July 25, 1960: "IN RE: PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH (SUNSET HARBOUR ANNEXATION -- AMENDED) On motion of Commissioner Plumb, duly seconded and carried, the petition for the proposed annexation of territory to the City of Huntington Beach (Sunset Harbour Annexation - Amended) was received and ordered referred to the County Assessor and County surveyor for checking and based upon their reports, the Boundary Commission finds that the boundaries of the proposed annexation are reasonable defin- ite and certain." Following considerable discussion by the Council, a motion was made by Stewart, seconded by Waite, instructing. the Clerk to .read resolution of intent to annex. 1. 3,3 Pale W2 Tuly 25, 1960 .\esolution i o. 1420, The Clerk read Resolution No. 1429, Intent to Anne. "A RESOLUTION DECLARING THAT PROCEEDINGS HAVE BEEN INITIATED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH TO ANNEX TO SAID CITY CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN AND DESIGNATED "SUNSET HARBOUR ANNEXATION" AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION." On motion by Waite, seconded by Stewart, Resolution No. 1429 was passed and adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Wells, Lambert Stewart, Waite. NOES: Councilmen: None. ABSENT: Councilmen: Gisler. C:?i1 Companies to On motion by Stewart, seconded be contractee..,by Committee by Waite, a committee consisting of the City Administrator, the City Attorney, the City Engineer, and Councilman Stewart, be authorized to contact the various oil companies having interest in property within the boundaries of the area proposed to be annexed, to endeavor to work out any protests to the annexation which might be forthcoming from these companies. Motion carried. Demane.�; On a motion by Waite, seconded by Wells, the demands as approved by the Finance Committee be ordered paid, subject to a review by and signature of Council- man Wells, Motion carried. On motion by Stewart, seconded by Wells, the regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach was adjourned.
