The regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach was called to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. by
Mayor Gisler.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given by all
present in the Council Chamber.
Councilmen Present: Wells, Lambert, Stewart, Waite, Gisler
Councilmen Absent: None
Report of Police On motion by Lambert, seconded by Waite,
nepart. - Received
the report of the Police Department for
the month o f May, 1961, was received and ordered filed. Motion
carried.
^`r. Lan Eichberr Mayor Gisler introduced Mr. Dan Eichberg,
President of the new Kiwanis Club.
Nat'l. Founc.. 14arch On motion by Lambert, seconded by Wells,
of Lanes -Campaign
a request from the National Foundation for
the March of Dimes for permission to conduct the 1962.March of Dimes
Campaign in the City, during the month of January, 1962 was approved,
subject to solicitors registering with the Police Department. Motion
carried.
Trustees First A letter from the trustees of the First
Meth. Church
Request Methodist Church, Huntington Beach,
requesting assistance of the Council through the City Engineering
Department, in planning for improvements in connection with their
new church site, was presented to the Council.
Referred to Enar. 4n motion by Lambert, seconded by Wells,
the request of the Methodist Church trustees was referred to the
Engineer for study and report back to Council. Motion carried.

Donald Rampton A letter from, Mr. Donald H. Rampton,
Request
requesting that his lease with the
City be terminated as of June 30th, 1961, and a new lease
written to Mr. Loyd Gage to be effective July lst, 1961,
was presented to the Council.
Request Granted On motion by Waite, seconded by Lambert,
Council authorized the termination of the lease with Mr. Donald
H. Rampton effective June 30th, 1961. Motion carried.
Loyc Gage Lease On motion by Waite, seconded by Lambert,
of Mr, Rampton
Mr. Loyd Gage was authorized to take over
the lease of Mr. Rampton effective July 1st, 1961, on a month to
month basis. Motion carried.

a request from Mr. Jack Clapp, that the
name of his wife, Jeanette Clapp,.be added to his agreement with

persons for alley improvement in Block 2505 East Side Villa
Tract, City, was presented to the Council.

City of Hunt. An answer and counterclaim of defendants

Fred C. Hermann and Myrtle V. Hermann,
in the case of the City of Huntington Beach vs Hermanns in the
Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County
of Orange, was presented by the Clerk for the information of the
Council.
A tty. Bauer City Attorney Bauer informed the Council
that the Hermanns alleged damages in the amount of five thousand.
dollars ($5,000) through being deprived of the property which
they claim the City had offered to sell, and had filed a counter-
claim in this amount.

Services Council approved an agreement, extending
an agreement for fire protection services between the County of
Orange and the City of Huntington Beach for outlying areas of the
City, and authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to execute same on
behalf of the City. Motion carried.

Scout Troop the Council granted permits to the V.F.W.
Post and to the Boy Scout Troop of Huntington Beach for Fire Works
stand location sites as approved by the Fire Department, subject

Usc. Facilities A matter of using the facilities of the
L . B . Humane
Society Long Beach Humane Society for animal
regulation service in the City, which had been referred to the
Administrator and Chief.of Police for study at the meeting of
May 15th, 1961, was again presented to the Council.

the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M., or as soon thereafter as possible,
on Monday, the 19th day of June, 1961, in the Council Chambers of
the City Hall, Huntington Beach, California, as the time and place
for a public hearing for the purpose of considering a petition for
a conditional exception to regulations of the districting Ordinance
to allow the division of land into two individual parcels as follows:
Division 1: The North 55 feet of the North 110 feet of Block 2504

the Southern California Edison Company, which had been referred to
a committee for study and consultation with Mr. Watkins, at the
meeting of June 5th, was presented to the Council.
This matter was discussed at some length
by the Council.

his belief that this matter had been settled a considerable time
before. Mr. Watkins requested the Clerk to read the excerpt from
the Minutes of the meeting of September 26th, 1960, concerning
the sale of the City's property to the Southern California Edison
Company and the arrangements previously made with Mr. Watkins.
The Clerk then read the.excerpt from the
Minutes of September 26th, 1960, as requested,

that the Council authorize the Mayor and Clerk to execute the
amendment to the Oil and Gas Lease on behalf of the City. Motion

prisoners in the County Jail, as provided in Resolution No, 61-453
of the County Board of Supervisors, which had been referred to the
Council as a Committee of the Whole for study at -the meeting of
June 5th, was again brought to the attention of the Council.

Council that there had been some consideration given to' this subject
at the City Manager's meeting, and that this group had appointed a

committee to study the matter and report back to the City
Manager's group at their next meeting. He informed the Council
that he had been appointed as a member of that committee.
Action Referred On motion by Lambert, seconded by Stewart,
the Council deferred action on the agreements.for the care of
City prisoners as presented, pending the outcome of the next
City Manager's meeting. Motion carried.

a permit was granted to the Huntington Beach Kiwanis Club with fees
waived, to sell balloons on July 4th on the streets of the City,
with the condition that all vendors wear their club identification
buttons. Motion carried.
