MINUTES
OF THE
HUNTINGTON BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION
Council Chambers, City Hall
Huntington Beach, California
SPECIAL MEETING
Wednesday, September 13th, 1961.
C01v1MISSIONERS PRESENT: Presson, Letson, Kaufman; Worthy,
Miller, Chairman Bazi1.
COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Stang.
MINUTES: It was announced by the Chairman
that he had called a special meeting
at.7:00 P,.M., Wednesday, September 13th, 1961- for purpose of
reviewing the proposed Sunset Heights Annexation which had been
referred to the Commission by the Council.
STUDY HELD: A map of the Sunset Heights area
and vicinity was displayed and
discussed at length.
It was the general concensus of the
Commission that if the property owners, and residents of the area
desired to annex to the City, the City should consent to the
circulation of petitions and the filing of the boundary description
with the County Boundary Commission.
It was also noted that practically
all streets in the area are substandard both as to width and
improvement, there are no sewers and water is now supplied by
a mutual water company from wells. It was the concensus that
the people in the area should be advised that if they wish any
type of public improvements such as sewer, water or streets,
the expense would have to be born by the residents and property
owners who would benefit.
The City Attorney stated that there
could be an assessment district formed to accomplish the im-
provements if such are wanted by the people in the area.
