HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-03-132 2 4 MINUTES Council Chamber, City Hall Huntington Beach, California Tuesday, March 13, 1962 Mayor Gisler called the regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach to order at 7:00 o'clock P.M. The Pledge of Allegiance was given by all present in the Council Chamber. Councilmen Present: Wells, Lambert, Gisler Councilmen Absent: Stewart, Waite Req. - B.S.A. To The Clerk presented a letter from Mr. Robert Pass Out First Aid A. Seybert, Committee Chairman, Troop #274, Charts in Cif B.S.A, requesting Council permission for the Boy Scouts to pass out first aid charts to the homes within the City. Permission On motion by Wells, seconded by Lambert, Granted Council granted permission to the Boy Scouts of Troop 34, Troop 134 and Troop 274 to pass out first aid charts to homes within the City. Motion carried. Letter - P.F.Callienne A letter from Mr. Peter F. Gallienne, Mrs. B. A. Reider Re/Damage to Homes 617 Frankfort Street, and Mrs. Betty A. Reider, 615 Frankfort Street, submitting a report of damage caused by the flooding of their residences through a back-up of drainage water, was presented for consideration of the Council. City Engineer City Engineer James Wheeler discussed with Wheeler the Council the problem involved in this matter. Considerable discussion was held by the Council, but no action was taken. Hunt. Driftwood The Clerk presented a letter from the Delays Huntington Driftwood Corp., Alhambra, California, regarding unavoidable delays in fill operations at the Driftwood Inn site because of weather conditions. This matter was discussed by the Council at some length. No action was taken. Alt. Proposed City Engineer Wheeler then discussed with Freeway Routes the Council three alternate proposed free- way routes between Seal Beach and the Newport Beach - Costa Mesa area. Mr. Wheeler pointed out on a map approximate lines of the proposed routes, and discussed with the Council the land use of the areas through which each would pass. No action was taken in this matter by the Council. Clerk Req. The Clerk presented a request for approval Exp. & Travel of expenses while attending the 141962 City Clerks' Institute" at Santa Barbara on April 25th - 27th. -1- (3/13/62) 22s l Page #2 - Minutes, March. 13, 1962 Expenses On motion by Lambert, seconded by Wells, Authorized Council authorized reasonable expenses for room and meals, with travel by City vehicle, to the Clerk in attending this institute. Motion carried. Supplemental On motion by Lambert, seconded by Gisler, Warrant Rees. Appr. Council approved a supplemeritdl Warrant Register covering payment of February collection fees to the deputy Animal Control Officer. Motion carried. Proposed Lifeguard Chief Lifeguard Vincent Moorhouse present - Budget, presented ed for Council consideration the proposed budget for the Lifeguard',Department for the fiscal year of 1962 - 1963. Mr. Moorhouse explained the various items in making up the budget request. Discussion Held Considerable discussion was held by the Council in this matter. Prbp. Operating On motion by Lambert, seconded by Gisler, 'aue'e,t Approved Council approved the proposed operating budget for the Lifeguard Department for the fiscal year 1962-63 as presented and directed that it be submitted to the County Harbor Department for consideration and the preparation of their budget. Mayor Gisler declared the motion carried. Adjourned On motion by Lambert, seconded by Wells, the regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach adjourned.
