DISCUSSION:
The Secretary informed the Commission
that the Planning Department is working on the Park and Recreation
element to the General Plan. He stated that direction from the
Commission is needed on whether the City should provide community
or neighborhood parks. He reminded the Commission that the ULI
recommended acquisition of neighborhood parks rather than com-
munity parks. This recommendation was based on the fact that
several regional park facilities such as "mile square" in Fountain
Valley, the County Marina in Sunset Beach and the eight miles of
beach in the city will provide regional park and, recreational
facilities.
Commission discussion followed.
.•--It was the consensus of the Commission
to pursue the acqusition of neighborhood parks and development
of the beach to its highest and best use.
