'l ie Pledge of Allegiance was given by all present in the Council Chamber. The Invocation was given by Father Coleman, priest of St Simon and Jude Catholic Church. ROLL CALL Councilmen Present. Welch, Gisler, Stewart, Lambert, Shipley 'Councilmen Absent: one -MIATUTERS On motion by Lambert, second Welch, the minutes of the regular meeting of December 6, 1965, were approved and ordered filed, Motion carried. On motion by Welch, second Lambert, the reports of the Chief of Police, Collector,, Treasurer and Chamber of Commerce President, were approved and ordered filed. Motion carried. MIRS. ALLZNDOR,�'��' On motion by Lambert, second Welch, a letter of commendation from Mrs. Allendorf to Council for their determination and foresightedness, was received and ordered filed. Motion carried. DRAINAIGE PROBLEMS - FRANKFORT AVENUE Clerk presented letters from Mrs. Betty A. Reider, 6!5 Frankfort Avenue Mrs. Marilyn A. Janow, 617 Frankfort Avenue Mx-, Albert J. Vanian, 611 Frankfort Avenue, City, and Mr. Peter F. Gallienne, 23381 Del Monte Drive - 28-F, Seal Beach, petitioning Council to correct the drainage problems caused by heavy rains to homes on the Frankfort Avenue bluff. The Director of Public Works reported that the best possible method of alleviating the condition was being sought, and stated that the estimated coat of remedial steps would be approximate2y $21,000. On motion by Lambert-, second Welch, Council authorized the Director of Public Works to proceed with Plans and Specifications on the draina-e-sewer condition existing on Frankfort Avenue, and d 4 rected il. the Finance Department to determine a source for such funds. Motion carried. PROCLA-MLATXON - MARCH OF D114ES On motion by Welch, second Gisler, Council granted a request from the National Foundation of' the March of Dimes - Orange County Chapter, to proclaim the month of January - 1,966 "Marc. of Dimes Month," with permission to conduct their annual campaign for funds. Mar Homeowners Association, recommending the appoint -meet of Roger D. Slates to an Urban Land institute Citizens Steering Committee, On motion by Lambert, second Stewart, the recommendation from the Glen Mar Homeowners Association of Roger D. Slates, to the U. L. 1. Citizens Steering Committee, was received and filed fop study. Motion carried. The Clerks: presented a claim filed by Mrs. Betty A. Raider, for damages to floors, carpeting and padding caused by sewer water coming through shower and bathtub drains and toilets on December 9, 1965, at 615 Frankfort Avenue in the City. On motion by Lambert, second Welch, Council denied the claim for dama.gea' of k os. Reider and referred same to the City Attorney and the City''s insuran e carrier. Motion, carried. CLAIM FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE - MRS,, MARILYNJA OW The Clark presented a, claim fop damages filed by Mrs. MarilynJanow for damage to carpeting caused by sewage and surface water on December 9, 1965, at 617 Frankfort Avenue, City. Can motion by Lambert, second Welch, Council denied the claim of Mrs. Jareow and referred same to the City Attorney and the Ci.ty's insurance carrier, Motion carried. Mayor Shipley announced that this was the time for Oral. Communications, when any person having any matter to bring before the Council, could address the Council in regard thereto. CHARLES STONE Mo. Charles Stone, 15452 LaSalle Lane, City, a.ddressed. the Council with two proposals, First, an offer of the McFadden. Homeowners Association to .landscape parkways in McFadden Avenue between Springdale and Edwards Streets, and Edwards Street between Bolsa and Edinger Streets, in the City; and second, a request for the City to take action to have plans and specifications prepared for the development of Main Street from ''lay Avenue to Ellis Avenue. The Director of Public Works reported on the Main Street, project and stated that plans are in the offing for development from Beach Boulevard. to Delaware Street at the present time. On motion by Stewart, second Lambert, C,ounci.l authorized the. Director of Public Works to cooperate with the McFadden Homeowners Association and other groups to proceed with development and landscaping from time to time, in locations agreed to by both. Iwo James Wheeler, Director of Public Works, addressed the Council and stated that the street .size was planned to serve the 18 :fists in. Harper Estates A He farther stated that if the access driveways is allowed, the street should be improved to City standards. Attorney Dahl then reque,stec? Council to consider denial of Calvary?' Motion carried., SPORTS PROGRAMS INC - AGREEMENT The City Administrator informed. the Council l that ABC' s Wide World of Sports, Sports Programs, nc � had offered the City of Huntington Beach $10,000 per year for exclusive worldwide television rights to the 196 and l967 United States National Surfing Championships held in Huntington Beach, ABC further requested an option for the 1968, 1969 and 1970 contests. On motion by Stewart, second Lambert, Council accepted ABC's 'Fide World. of Sports, Sports Programs, Inc. offer of $10,000 per year for the 1966 and 1967 surfing championship. Motion carried.
