ROLL CALL Councilmen Present: Gisler, Stewart, Lambert, Shipley Councilmen Absent. Welch. The Clerk presented letters and a petition filed by residents 1n the vicinity € f Van Buren Street, protesting the moving in of one duplex and ten single family dwellings on Farr Buren Strut in the City by Hobert Stellrecht. This matter was deferred for study by Council at the meeting of January 17, 1966. On motion by Lambert, second Stewart, Council the move -ins on Van Buren Street and approved Stellrecht of one duplex and ten single family" carried, PERSONNEL NNEL ® EMPLOY @ TELEPHONE OPERATOR overruled the protests to the moving in by Robert dwellings. 1€ do On motion by Lambert, second Gisler, Council authorized the employment of Mrs. Sandra La dears as Typist Clerk (Telephone Operator), Rang 27-'A, effective February 1, 19669 to replace Charlotte Dull who is re- signing January 31, 1966� Motion carried. On motion by Ebert, second Gisler, Resolution No. 260- "A > ESOLULI OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF T11E CITY OF HUNTI' GTON BEACH SUT- P TI THE MEM- BERS OF 'T E ARI�W_D FORCES OF THIS NATION F'ICAITI G ''I IN VIET AM," which had heretofore been submitted to the Council and read by them, was passed and adopted by the following roll call vote: YES a Councilmen_< Gisler, Lambert, Stewart, hi ley NOES; Councilmen. None ABSENT: Councilmen. Welch The Clerk presented a letter from Mr. Bert W. Harding, Jr. requesting the City to obtain a legal ruling from the Attorney General to clarify Council candidates' el.i ibi.lity under the new Charter, if ratified b February 17, 1966. REgU ST ® MOVE -IN 11E IHEN"l' ® HH PUBLICITY The Clerk presented a letter signed by 16 residents € f Ne 1. nd Street, protesting publicity given their mauve -in homes in a local newspaper on January 20, 1966, and requesting Council to support them in a re- quest for a retraction of same. 6n motion by Lambert, second Gisler, Council directed that a letter be forwarded requesting a retraction of statements made on move -ins. Motion carried. The Director of Public Works presented a request for Council author- ization to expend funds -try determine the possibilities of obtaining Federal. aid on. the proposed Ea stside Drainage Assessment District. On motion by Stewart, second Gisler, Council authorized the Director of Public Works to engage the law firm of Rutan & Tucker to aid the City in determining the possibilities of obtaining Federal_ aid on than proposed Eastside Drainage Assessment ant District. HEARING - PROPOSED OR: ORDINANCE Mayor Shipley announced that this was the day and hour sat for a pub- lic hearing on the proposed oil ordinance for the City of Huntington Beach � The Clerk read notice of public hearing on said proposed oil ordinance, as published in the Huntington Beach News on xJanuary .1.3, .1.966, setting the hour of 7 : 0 P bola I� or as soon thereafter as possible, on Tuesday, the 25th day of January, 1966, In the Council Chamber of the Civic Center, Huntington Bench, California, as the time and place for a pub- lic hearing for the purpose of considering a proposed oil ordinance for the City of Huntington Beach.
