The regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Mayor.Stewart.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given by all present in the Council
Chamber.
ROLL CALL
Councilmen Present: Coen, Bartlett, Kaufman, Green, Stewart
Councilmen Absent: Gisler, Shipley
CONTRACT APPROVED
The Assistant City Administrator presented a contract for services of
the City Attorney for Council consideration.
On motion by Kaufman, Council approved the contract between the City
and the City Attorney, and authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to
execute same. Motion carried.
Attorney Bush informed the Council that the City Clerk had been served
on behalf of the City with a complaint in litigation being brought
ainst the City by the California Public Utilities Commission in
an effort to have the purchase of the Sunset Beach-Surfside Water
Company by the City set aside. Mr. Bush stated that he kould contact
Rutan & Tucker, Attorneys from Santa Ana who handled the purchase
and sale to the City, concerning an answer to the complaint.
Councilman Green discussed the enlargement of Lake Park Clubhouse,
and asked if any plans and costs were available.
The Assistant City Administrator informed Mr. Green that original
plans on the Clubhouse, calling for a much larger building, were being
held by the Public Works Department.
On motion by Green, Council directed that the final plan on,tthe
Clubhouse and costs for enlarging same be submitted for their
considerati,on. Motion carried.
Mayor Stewart suggested that the Council consider the holding of a
dinner -meeting between the Council and all Department Heads on the
fifth Monday of those months which have five Mondays.
Following some discussion by the Council, Mayor Stewart called a
meeting of the Council as an informal Committee -of -the -Whole for
August 29, 1966, at 6:30 P.M. at the Sheraton Beach Inn, with all
City Department heads, for a discussion meeting.
Mayor Stewart called a recess of the Council at 7:24 P.M.
Council was reconvened at 10:15 P.M. by the Mayor.

Mayor Stewart announced that all applicants for the proposed
Personnel Commission had been interviewed, and that appointment
of the Commission would be made at a later date.
ADJOURNMENT
On motion by Bartlett, the regular adjourned meeting of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach adjourned. Motion carried.
