MINUTES: On motion by Miller and second- ed by Larkin, the Minutes of the Huntington Beach Planning Commission of September 6, 19 and 26, and October 3, 1967, were accepted as -transcribed and mailed by the Secretary. COMMUNICATION: ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION The Acting Secretary read a communication submitted by the Orange County Planning Commission regarding Use Variance No. 5973, which would allow the construc- ticn of a 5 unit apartment complex with covered off-street parking of less than the required width on a parcel containing less than the required area in the R-4 Suburban Residential District. The Commission reviewed the request. A MOTION WAS MADE BY BAZIL AND SECONDED BY ROYER TO APPROVE USE VARIANCE NO. 5973 SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITION: 1. The standards outlined in the Sunset Beach-Surfside Study of March 1, 1967 shall be complied with. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: Larkin, Miller, Worthy, Bazil, Royer. NOES: None ABSENT,. Tom ABSTAINED: Lane THE MOTION CARRIED. A FURTHER MOTION WAS MADE BY BAZIL AND SECONDED BY ROYER TO INSTRUCT THE SECRETARY TO WRITE A LETTER TO THE ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION REQUESTING A FURTHER REPORT ON THE COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION'S POSITION REGARDING VARIANCES WITHIN THE SUNSET BEACH AREA. Planning,'Commission Tuesday, October 24, 1967r Page No. 2 DISCUSSION: SIGN ORDINANCE The Acting Secretary showed numerous slides pertaining to signs in commercial, professonal and industrial zones. After the presentation was over, Mr. Harlow distributed rough draft copies of the proposed sign ordinance. A lengthy discussion was held by the Commission. It was the consensus to have the staff meet with the Legislative Action Committee of the ' Chamber of Commerce and other members of the business community to review the proposed sign ordinance. PROPOSED CODE AMENDMENT NO. 67-25 e Acting Secretary distributed copies of a proposed code amendment pertaining to Section 9743.4 which will establish a population density for computing park and recreation fees in trailer parks. The Commission reviewed the proposed code amendment. A MOTION WAS MADE BY BAZIL AND SECONDED -BY MILLER TO INSTRUCT THE SECRETARY TO SET A PUBLIC HEARING ON ,CODE AMENDMENT NO. 67-25 FOR NOVEMBER 21, 1967. ROLL CALL .VOTE AYES-.
