USE PERMIT NO. 68-16 - Continued Applicant: Coast Development Co. To permit 244 units in the R-3 Limited Multiple Family Residence District. Located on the south side of Ellis Ave., approximately 660 ft. east of Beach Blvd. CONDITIONAL EXCEPTION NO. 68-20 - Continued Applicant: Coast Development Co. To allow the reductioncf side yard setbacks to 0 ft. in deviation to the.required 5 ft. setbacks in the R3 Limited Multiple Family Residence District. Located on the south side of Ellis Ave., approximately 660 ft. east of Beach Blvd. The hearing was opened to the audience on Use Permit No. 68-16 and Conditional Exception No. 68-20 in conjunction. Tom Shelton; engineer for the applicant, addressed the Board and asked various questions regarding the proposed street pattern. He requested a two week continuance in order to revise:the-plan. There being no further comment, the hearing was closed. Board discussion followed. A MOTION WAS MADE BY HARLOW AND SECONDED BY COOK TO CONTINUE USE PERMIT NO. 68-16 AND CONDITIONAL EXCEPTION NO. 68-20 TO JULY 24, 1968 AT THE REQUEST OF THE APPLICANT. To allow an additional advertising sign of 66 sq. ft. causing a total 150 sq. ft. of sign area in deviation to the permitted-.100-.sq. ft. Located on the west side of Beach Blvd., approximately 262 ft. north of Yorktown St. in the C4 Highway Com- mercial zone. He questioned the proposed sign ordinance; ...... also the amount of frontage on his property. There being no further comment, the hearing was closed. _ A MOTION WAS MADE BY COOK AND SECONDED BY HARLOW TO DENY CONDITIONAL EXCEPTION NO. 68-19 FOR THE FOLLOWING REASON: 1. The proposed increase in sign area is 50% more than that permitted by the sign ordinance. ROLL CALL VOTE: .- AYES: McFarland,' Cook, Harlow NOES: None ABSENT: None THE MOTION CARRIED. CONDITIONAL EXCEPTION NO. 68-30 Applicant: J.D.'Doyle To allow an unenelosed, roofed structure to be constructed within 3 ft. of the side property line in deviation to the`requi•red 5 ft. side yard setback. Located at 17251 Breda Lane and legally described as Lot 10 of Tract No. 5789. -'­'The-hearing was opened to the audience. J. D. Doyle, applicant, addressed the Board and -answered questions regarding overalldimensions of the structure. There being no further comment, the hearing was closed. Board discussion followed. A MOTION WAS MADE BY MCFARLAND AND SECONDED BY COOK TO APPROVE CONDITIONAL EXCEPTION NO. 68-30 SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITION: 1. A clear 4 ft. setback shall be maintained from the side property line to the support posts. Located at 8441 Indianapolis Ave. and legally described as lot 26 of Tract No. 3595. The -hearing was opened to the audience'. Louis Riley, applicant, addressed the Board and answered various questions. There being no further comment, the hearing was closed. Board discussion followed. A MOTION WAS MADE BY COOK AND SECONDED BY HARLOW TO APPROVE CONDITIONAL EXCEPTION NO. 68-31. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: McFarland, Cook, Harlow NOES: None ABSENT: None THE MOTION CARRIED. USE PERMIT NO. 68-21 Applicant: Jack Strother To permit the construction of a carport in the R1'Single Family Residence District. Located at 8391 Polder Drive and legally described as Lot 53"of Tract No: 3862. The hearing was opened to the audience. There being no one present to speak for or against the matter, the,hearing-was'cloted. - Board discussion followed. A MOTION WAS MADE BY COOK AND SECONDED BY MCFARLAND TO APPROVE USE PERMIT NO. 68-21 SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITION: 1. The proposed structure shall conform to Section 9106 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance -Code. A MOTION WAS MADE BY HARLOW AND SECONDED BY,COOK TO CONTINUE ADMINISTRA- TIVE REVIEW NO. 68-14 TO JULY 17, 1968,FOR THE FOLLOW- ING REASON: 1. More specific information is needed regarding sign locations and size and the location of the proposed sales office. The Board reviewed the variance. A MOTION WAS MADE BY HARLOW AND SECONDED BY COOK TO INSTRUCT THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT TO WRITE A LETTER TO THE ORANGE COUNTY ZONING ADMINISTRATOR RECOMMENDING THAT USE VARIANCE NO. 6100 CONFORM TO THE DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS RECOMMENDED IN THE SUNSET BEACH- SURFSIDE STUDY. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: McFarland, Cook, Harlow NOES: None ABSENT: None THE MOTION CARRIED. MISCELLANEOUS: Election of Officers Pursuant to Section 2 of the By -Laws of the Board, election of officers was held. A MOTION WAS MADE BY HARLOW AND SECONDED BY COOK TO APPOINT DAN MCFARLAND CHAIRMAN. THE MOTION CARRIED. A MOTION WAS MADE BY HARLOW AND SECONDED BY MCFARLAND TO APPOINT PAUL COOK VICE-CHAIRMAN.
