MINUTES HUNTINGTON BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION Council Chambers, Civic Center Huntington Beach, California NOTE: A TAPE RECORDING OF THIS MEETING IS ON FILE IN THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT OFFICE. TUESDAY, JULY 30, 1968 - STUDY SESSION COMMISSIONERS-PRE-aENT: COMMIS -I©NE-R-S ABSENT: DISCUSSION• Bazil, Miller, Lane, Royer, Slates Tom, Duke SIGN ORDINANCE The Commission reviewed a list of suggested revisions to the proposed sign code submitted by the Chamber of Commerce. The suggestions were discussed at length. It was the consensus of the Commission that several of the suggestions submitted by the Chamber of Commerce were within the intent of the ordinance and such suggestions should be incorporated as a part of the proposed sign ordinance. SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE - FRONTAGE ROADS The Commission reviewed various sketches depicting treatment of frontage roads within subdivisions. Bill Hartge, City Engineer, addressed the Commission and explained the pros and cons pertain- ing to frontage roads. Several alternatives were suggested on frontage roads. Discussion followed. It was the consensus of the Commission not to require frontage roads or perimeter walls but to leave the option up to the developer. CODE AMENDMENT NO,, 68-6 - SUGGESTED ALTERNATIVES The Commission reviewed several suggested alternatives in the R2 and R3 zones. A MOTION WAS MADE BY LANE AND SECONDED BY SLATES TO INSTRUCT THE STAFF TO PREPARE A CODE AMEND- MENT AND TO PUBLISH A LEGAL NOTICE TO CHANGE THE DENSITY IN R2 ZONE TO PERMIT ONE UNIT FOR EACH 2,000 SQ. FT. OF LOT AREA. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: Miller, Slates, Royer, Lane NOES: Bazil ABSENT: Tom, Duke THE MOTION CARRIED.
