Thursday, September 12, 1968
Mayor Coen called the regular adjourned meeting of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach to order at 7:00 P.M.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given by all present in the Council
Chamber.
ROLL CALL
Councilmen Present: Shipley, Bartlett, McCracken, Kaufman, Green,
Coen, Matney arrived at 7:15 P.M.
Councilmen Absent: None

APPOINTMENT'TO ORANGE COUNTY AIRPORT STUDY HEARING
The Assistant City Administrator informed the Council that any pre-
sentation to be made officially on behalf of the City at the hearing
on Phase I on the Orange County Airport Study, should be scheduled
and some person should be appointed to make such presentation.
Mayor Coen appointed Vice -Mayor Green to make the presentation on
the City's position in regard to the proposed Bolsa Chica airport
site at the hearing to be held September 16, 1968 at 3:30 P.M. at the
Huntington Beach High School,
Vice -Mayor Green informed the Council that he had attended, along with
Councilman Matney and some members of the City staff, an air tour of
prospective airport sites which had been set up by the Southern
California Association of Governments. Councilman Green discussed
various items which he believed should be included in the presentation
made on behalf of the City.
Following considerable discussion by the Councilmen the Clerk presented
Resolution No. 2839 - "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH IN OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED,BOLSA CHICA.REGIONAL
AIRPORT SITE," for their consideration.
On motion by Coen, Resolution No. 2839 was passed and adopted by the
following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Shipley, Bartlett, McCracken, Kaufman, Matney,
Green, Coen
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilmen: None
SYSTEMS APPROACH TO URBAN REDEVELOPMENT
On motion by Green, Council directed the City Administrator to select
some person to attend a seminar on Systems Approach to Urban Redevelop-
ment at the University of California at Irvine the latter part of
September, and to pay any expenses involved therein. :Motion carried.

SIGN ORDINANCE
Mayor Coen directed the City Clerk to notify the Chamber of Commerce
Legislative Committee so that they might in turn notify other interested
parties that there would be no discussion on the proposed Sign Ordi-
nance at the meeting of September 16, 1968, even though it is an item
on the agenda.
INFORMAL MEETING
Mayor Coen called an informal meeting of the Council for September 12,
1968, at 7:30 PaMa in the Administrative Annex for the purpose of
interviewing applicants for membership on the Recreation and Parks
Committee.
ADJOURNMENT qW
On motion by McCracken, the regular adjourned meeting of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach adjourned. Motion carried,
