TUESDAY, JANUARY 28, 1969,- STUDY SESSION
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Bazil, Lane, Bokor, Miller, Tom, Duke
COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Slates
BEAUTIFICATION AWARDS: The Commission held a discussion
pertaining to beautification
awards, to be awarded to projects having outstanding architec-
ture and landscaping or parking lot designs.
The Acting Secretary submitted
copies of,a list of suggested items to be considered by the
°Commiss ion.
It was the consensus of the
Commission to have the Planning Department compile a list of
all -items in :addition ,to the list ,submitted by ;the Planning
Department for each -,Commissioner to .review. Also; to" have
the Planning•Department submit criteria for each Commissioner
to use when reviewing each project.
PLANNED RESIDENTIAL:DEVELOPMENT:
The:Commission discussed the
study draft.of the ordinance and suggested.that,planned resi-
dential developments be permitted by Site Plan in the R1,
R2, and R3 Distr"icts and requested certain changes -be made
in the proposed development standards. A discussion of the
R4,Distr-ict was postponed until.the review of;High Rise Develop-
ments. 'It was.pointed,out that until such an ordinance was'
effective, -all planned:residential.:and condominium projects
would have to'file Conditimal Exceptions. These would be
very difficult -to approve because of the.lack of a hardship
connected with- many of : the properties and therefore "they -
should be uses permitted.subject to_a Site -Plan application.
:It was,the consensus of the
Commission to' have: the, staff- make. the recommended changes
and discuss this,matter-at the next,,meeting.
COMMISSIONER LANE AND'DUKE:
Commissioner Lane and Duke were
excused at 8:30 PM -from further,,participation.
HIGH•RISE DEVELOPMENTS:
The Commission decided to
discuss only the -proposed standards for-residential;I-igh rise
developments and postpone.industrial,and commercial -standards
to a later date. ;The .Commission- recommended .cer-tain changes
in-•the•proposed standards concerning densities and coverage,
uses; parking and other requirements be made.

based on his experience in the oil industry. Certain changes
in the proposed ordinance were recommended and the Commission
consensus was that the matter be brought up at the next meeting.
