Administrative Annex

Monday, May 12, 1959
Mayor Green called the regular adjourned meeting of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach to order at 7:00 P.M. in the Adminis-
trative Annex Building.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given by all present in the Council room.

ORDINANCE NO 14-97 - PARADES - FIRST READING
The Clerk gave Ordinance No. 1497 a first reading by title - "AN
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING THE HUNTINGTON
BEACH ORDINANCE CODE BY ADDING THERETO CHAPTER 79 RELATING TO PARADES."
On motion by Bartlett, Council waived further reading of Ordinance
No. 1497 by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Bartlett, McCracken, Kaufman, Matney, Coen,
Green
NOES- Councilmen- None
ABSENT: Councilmen: Shipley,
RECESS
Mayor Green called a recess of the Council meeting at 7:10 P.M.

PRESENTATIONS - ULI - MBDC
During the recess, presentations were made by Chairman Monte Nitzkowski
of the Urban Land Institute Mid -Beach Development Committee, and by
Dr. Thomas Ashley and by Ted Adsit.
Following these presentations, questions were entertained from members
of the City Council, City Planning Commission, and from members of the
ULI Mid -Beach Development Committee.
COUNCIL RECONVENED
Council was reconvened at 10:50 P.M. by the Mayor.
Discussion was held regarding holding a meeting on May 15, 1969, to
further discuss matters presented at this meeting.

RES NO 2989 - OPPOSES FEDERAL BUDGET CUT - LIBRARY - ADOPTED
The Clerk read Resolution No. 2989 by title-- "A RESOLUTION OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH OPPOSING THE BUDGET CUT
WHICH WOULD LIMIT FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF LIBRARY
FACILITIES AND OPPOSING THE PLACING OF LIBRARY FACILITIES AND BOOKS
ON LOW PRIORITY FOR RECEIPT OF FEDERAL FUNDS."

On motion by Kaufman, Council waived further reading of Resolution
No. 2989, and passed and adopted same by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Bartlett, McCracken, Kaufman, Matney, Coen, Green
NOES: Councilmen: None

REPORT - CIVIC CENTER SITE
Councilman Kaufman discussed comparative costs of locating a Civic
Center on the Huntington Beach Company site as related to a downtown
site.
ADJOURNMENT
On motion by Coen, the regular adjourned meeting of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach adjourned to Thursday, May 15, 1969,
at 7:00 P.M., in the Council Chamber. Motion carried,
