The regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach was called to order at 12:01 A.M. by Mayor Green.
ROLL CALL
Councilmen Present. Shipley, Matney, Coen, Green
Councilmen Absent: Bartlett, McCracken, Kaufman
STATEMENT OF THE CITY CLERK - CERTIFICATION.OF CANVASS OF ELECTION
The Clerk read the Statement of the City Clerk certifying the canvass
of ballots of the Special Municipal Election of June 3, 1969.
On motion by Coen, Council received the Statement of the City Clerk
for canvass of the returns of the Special Municipal Election held
June 3, 1969. Motion carried.
There being no errors in the canvass of the returns of the Special
Municipal Election of June 3, 1969, the Clerk read Resolution No. 3008 -
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH
STATING THE RESULT OF THE CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL
BOND ELECTION HELD JUNE 31, 1969.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, by
Ordinance No. 1489, duly called and provided for the holding of a
special election in said city on June 3, 1969 for the purpose of sub-
mitting to the qualified voters of said city the proposition set forth
in said ordinance and hereinafter stated; and
Notice of said election was duly and regularly given in time,
form and manner as provided by law, and said election was held on said
date at the polling places designated in Ordinance No. 1489, passed
and adopted by the City Council on April 7, 1969,'and the votes cast
thereat were canvassed and the returns thereof made by the City Clerk
of the City of Huntington Beach at the time and in the manner and form
provided by law; and
Said City Council has duly assembled at its usual place of meeting
to receive the certification of the returns of said election as deter-
mined by the City Clerk, conducting said canvass for, and by order of
the City Council,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach
does hereby resolve, determine and order as follows:
SECTION 1. That the special election for the purpose of submitting
to the voters of the City of Huntington Beach the bond proposition
hereinafter set forth was duly held on June 3, 1969, and the votes cast
at said election were duly and regularly canvassed and the returns
thereof made at the time and in the form and manner required by law.

SECTION 2. That the bond proposition voted upon at said election
is as follows, to wit:
PARK BOND PROP08ITION: Shall the City of Huntington Beach
incur a bonded indebtedness in the principal amount of
$6,000,000 for the acquisition and construction by said
City of a certain municipal improvement, to wit: additions
to and development of facilities of the City for community
recreation, including the acquisition and development of
additional parks and the development of existing parks by
the landscaping and planting of grounds and the construction
of buildings and recreational facilities, sewer and drainage
facilities and vehicle parking areas and for any of the
foregoing the acquisition of real property, equipment,
furniture, and other property necessary therefor?
SECTION 3. That the City Council has received the returns.,.of
said election, as canvassed by the City Clerk at this Council's
direction and on its behalf, and this Council finds that the total
number of votes cast in each of the respective election precincts,
the number of votes therein for and against the Park Bond Proposition,
the total number of absentee votes cast and the number of votes
therein for and against the Park Bond Proposition, and the total
number of votes cast in said city for the Park Bond Proposition are
as shown on Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part of this
resolution.
SECTION 4. That the votes of more than two-thirds of the qualified
electors voting on said proposition at said election were cast in favor
of the adoption of said proposition, and said proposition is hereby
declared to be carried, and this City Council is authorized to issue
bonds of said city pursuant thereto, as provided by law.
SECTION.5. That the whole number of ballots cast in the City of
Huntington Beach at said special election, including all absentee
ballots was 8,052 ballots.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk is hereby directed to enter on the
records of the City Council a statement of the result of said election
as required by law.
SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall attest and certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution by a majority of the votes of
the members of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach, by a vote of more than a majority of all its members, at an
adjourned, regular meeting held on the 10th day of June, 1969. -

I, PAUL C. JONES, the duly elected, qualified and acting
City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk of
the City Council of said City, do hereby certify that the whole number
of members of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach is seven;
that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative
vote of more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular adjourned meeting thereof held on the 10th day of June,
19699 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Shipley, Matney, Coen, Green
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilmen: McCracken, Kaufman, Bartlett

On motion by Coen, Resolution No. 3008 was passed and adopted and
ordered spread in full in these minutes by the following roll call

ADJOURNMENT
On motion by Matney, the regular adjourned meeting of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach adjourned. Motion carried.
