HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-06-23a MINUTES Council Chamber, Civic Center Huntington Beach, California Monday, June 23, 1969 The regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach was called to order at 7:56 P.M. by Mayor Green. ROLL CALL Councilmen Present: Shipley, Bartlett, McCracken, Kaufman, Matney, Green Councilmen Absent: Coen RECESS Mayor Green called a recess of the Council at 7:57 P.M. to hold informal discussion with Kurt Meyer & Associates and Honnold & Rex, architects for the proposed civic center building; and with William J. Moran & Company, Financial Consultants. RECONVENE The regular adjourned meeting of the Huntington Beach City Council was reconvened at 11:05 P.M. by the Mayor. RESOLUTION�NO 3015 - SUPPORTING COUNTY PARKING LOT IN SUNSET BEACH The Clerk.read Resolution No. 3015 by title - "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH IN SUPPORT OF THE ORANGE COUNTY PARKING LOT IN SUNSET BEACH." Following considerable discussion by the Council, on motion by Shipley, Council waived further reading of Resolution No. 3015, and passed and adopted same by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Shipley, Bartlett, McCracken, Kaufman, Matney, Green NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: Coen l 6 - � L, CITY ATTORNEY'S OPINION - ACTION ON CODE AMENDMENT 69-7-OFF-STREET PARKING Councilman Matney discussed with other members of the Council an opinion which had been received from the City Attorney regarding minute action which had been taken by the Council on June 16, 1969, in acting upon Code Amendment No. 69-7, informing Council that the action taken was invalid. Following some discussion by the Council, on motion by Matney, Council referred Code Amendment No. 69-7 back to the Planning.Commission for further consideration and report back. Motion carried. �1'1 WILLIAM J MORAN & CO FINANCIAL PROPOSAL - REFERRED TO ADMINISTRATOR Mayor Green directed the City Administrator to prepare a recommendation for Council's consideration on the financial proposal of the William J. Moran Company, and send same to Council members prior to the next reg- ular meeting. Page #2 - Council Minutes - 6/23/69 PERMISSION FOR ABSENCE FROM STATE - SHIPLEY Councilman Shipley requested and was granted permission to be absent from the state for a period of two months starting July 2, 1969. YOUTH COORDINATING COUNCIL - REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Mr. Leonard Ewers of the Youth Coordinating Council addressed Council and requested assistance to his group to start a summer program which would include the staging of a musical production at the High School auditorium. He informed the Council that the revue would probably net sufficient funds to finance their program through the summer, but stated that they would require approximately $500.00 to get it started. On. motion by Shipley, Council authorized the expenditure of $500.00 to be made by the City on behalf of the Youth Coordinating Council to assist in their summer program, with all expenditures to be made through the City's Purchasing Department, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Shipley, Bartlett, McCracken, Kaufman, Matney, Green NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: Coen INFORMAL MEETING - TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 1969 Mayor Green called an informal meeting of the Council for Tuesday, June 24, 1969 at 7:30 P.M. in the Administrative Annex for the purpose of interviewing landscape architects for the Central City Park. ADJOURNMENT On motion by Kaufman, the regular adjourned meeting of the City Council adjourned at 11:36 P.M. Motion carried.
