HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-08-09MINUTES Council Chamber, Civic Center Huntington Beach, California Wednesday, August 9, 1972 Mayor Pro-Tempore Bartlett called the regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach to order at 6:00 P.M. The Pledge of Allegiance was given by all present in the Council Chamber. ROLL CALL Councilmen Present: Gibbs, Matney, Duke, Bartlett Councilmen Absent: Shipley, Green, Coen CENTRAL CITY LIBRARY PROJECT BONDS The Mayor Pro-Tempore called on the City Administrator and Assistant City Admin- istrator to present a summary of the Central City Library Project Bonds which had been received and opened at 11:00 A.M. this day. Mr. Castle, Assistant City Administrator, informed the Council that the bonds had been reviewed by representatives of the City, the Public Facilities Corporation and the Bond Consultants during the afternoon:, and that the Public -Facilities Corpor- ation had met formally at 4:00 P.M. and approved the bid of the United California Bank for purchase of the bonds. Mr. Castle then introduced Mr. Terry McCarty of Stone & Youngberg, Bond Consultants. to the City, who reviewed the bids, net interest cost and net interest rates for the Council's information. ACCEPT BID - UNITED CALIFORNIA BANK On motion by Matney, Council accepted the bid of United California Bank with a Net Interest Cost of $4,665,979.50 and a Net Interest Rate of 5.655% and rejected all other bids by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Gibbs, Matney, Duke, Bartlett NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: Shipley, Green, Coen AUTHORIZE EXECUTION LEASE AND SUBLEASE - H.B. PUBLIC FACILITIES CORP. On motion by Duke, Council authorized the execution by the Mayor Pro-Tempore and the City Clerk of the Lease and Sub -lease between the City and the Public Facil- ities Corporation, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen: Gibbs, Matney, Duke, Bartlett NOES: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: Shipley, Green, Coen Page #2 - Council Minutes - 8/ 9./72 AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR CENTRAL CITY LIBRARY - SWINERTON & WALBERG, CO. The Assistant City Administrator informed Council that the Public Facilities Corpor- ation, at their afternoon meeting, had awarded a contract for tho construction of Lhe Central City Library to Swinerton & Walberg, Co. subject to delivery of the honds. INFORMAL MEETING CALLED Mayor Pro-Tempore Bartlett called an informal meeting of the Council for 6:30 P.M. in the Administrative Annex.
