Monday, September 23, 1974
Mayor Coen called the adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach to order at 4:00 P.M.
ROLL CALL
Present: Shipley, Bartlett, Gibbs, Matney, Wieder, Duke, Coen
Absent, None
RES NO 3959 - ADOPTED - URGES SUPPORT OF COUNTY -WIDE REFUSE DISPOSAL PLAN
The -City Clerk read Resolution No. 3959 by title - "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH URGING THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
TO GIVE ITS CONTINUING SUPPORT TO THE EXISTING COUNTY -WIDE REFUSE DISPOSAL PLAN."
On motion by Duke, Council waived further reading of Resolution No. 3959 and
adopted same by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Shipley, Bartlett, Gibbs, Matney, Wieder, Duke, Coen
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT - RAINBOW DISPOSAL COMPANY - APPROVED
The City Administrator presented a Supplemental Agreement to the agreement between
the City and Rainbow Disposal Company for refuse collection and disposal which
Council had directed be prepared at the adjourned regular meeting of September 3,
1974.
On motion by Wieder, Council approved the Supplemental Agreement to the agreement
between the City and Rainbow bisposal Company for refuse collection and disposal
for a period ending February 28, 1976; said rate to be retroactive from March 1,
1974, and authorized and directed the Mayor and City Clerk to execute same on
behalf of the City. The motion was passed by the following vote:
AYES: Shipley, Bartlett, Gibbs, Matney, Wieder, Duke, Coen
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
HUNTINGTON BEACH EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY. COMMISSION - APPOINTMENTS APPROVED
A motion was made by Councilwoman Gibbs to approve the following appointments
to the Huntington Beach Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as recommended
by the Affirmative Action Task Force: Mr. Michio M. Iwata, Mr. Kenneth W. King,
Ms. Nancy C. May, Ms. Diana D. Springer, Mr. Robert E. Wall.
Councilwoman Wieder stated that she would like an opportunity to review said recommenda-
tions and discussion was held by Council.

The motion was passed by the following vote:
AYES: Shipley, Bartlett, Gibbs, Matney, Duke, Coen
NOES: Wieder
ABSENT; None
The Council directed that Nancy C. May be notified of the fact that her appoint-
ment is contingent upon her resignation from the Huntington Beach Environmental
Council due to the fact that a person is not permitted to serve concurrently on
more than one City board, commission or committee.
RESIGNATION FROM HUNTINGTON BEACH BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION - MARK HAMMARQUIST
The Mayor informed Council that he had received a communication from Mr. Mark
Hammarquist, Chairman of the Huntington Beach Bicentennial Commission, sub-
mitting his resignation from said commission.
On motion by Coen, Council accepted with regret, the resignation of Mr. Mark
Hammarquist from the Huntington Beach Bicentennial Commission by the following
vote:
AYES: Shipley, Bartlett, Gibbs, Matney, Wieder, Duke, Coen
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
Mayor Coen suggested that Council at a future date submit names of persons
who they would recommend for appointment to the Huntington Beach Bicentennial
Commission.
EXECUTIVE SESSION CALLED
Mayor Coen called an Executive Session of the City Council to discuss pending
litigation and personnel matters.
RECESS
The Mayor called a recess of Council at 4:30 P.M.
RECONVENE
The meeting was reconvened by the Mayor at 6:25 P.M.
ADJOURNMENT
On motion by Bartlett, the adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach adjourned at 6:25 P.M., to Monday, October 7,
1974 at 5:30 P.M. in the Council Chamber. The motion was passed by the following
vote:
AYES: Shipley, Bartlett, Gibbs, Matney, Wieder, Duke, Coen
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
