The adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by the Mayor,
ROLL CALL
Present: Wieder, Bartlett, Coen, Matney, Shipley, Duke, Gibbs
Absent: None
1975-1976 BUDGET - DEPARTMENTAL PRESENTATIONS
ALL Department Heads presented Council with the proposed cuts in their budgets.
The following cuts were approved by Council action:

.REVENUE POTENTIALS
Discussion was held regarding the various means of obtaining revenue to
balance the budget. The increases discussed are as follows:
Beach Parking Lot Fees $ 80,000
Refuse Pick -Up $880,000
Water In Lieu $ 84,000
Documentary Stamp Tax .$130,000
Sewer Maintenance @ 750 $330,000
Per Barrel. Oil Tax $325,000

Informal discussion was held regarding the Shamel Ash Tree and Warner fire Station
programs. Both programs will remain in the budget at this time. The Structural
Inspector for the Building Department also was determined to remain in the budget.
Discussion was held relative to the possible transfer of the Personnel Safety
employee to the Treasurer's Department.
Councilwoman Wieder made a motion to balance the budget by approving increases
in Beach Parking lot fees, refuse collection, and Water -in -lieu user fees, totaling
$1,000,030.
A division of the motion was requested and a motion was made by Wieder to increase
the Water -in -lieu rate. Motion carried. A motion was then made by Wieder to in-
crease the Beach Parking lot fees. Motion carried, with Bartlett voting no. On
motion by Wieder, Council directed that the refuse collection fee be charged.
' Motion carried, with Coen and Duke voting no.
A motion was made by Duke to increase the barrel tax by 2G and passed by the follow-
ing vote:
AYES: Duke, Matney, Shipley, Gibbs
NOES: Bartlett, Wieder, Caen
ABSENT: None
PLANNING COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS
On motion by Bartlett, Council appointed Roger Slates, Thomas Brian Parkinson and
Ruth Primrose Shea to the Planning Commission for terms expiring June 30, 1979.
Motion carried.
PERSONNEL BOARD - APPOINTMENT
On motion by Bartlett, Council re -appointed Wanda Hiltunen to.the Personnel Board
for a term to expire June 30, 1979. Motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT TO JUNE 18 1975
On motion by Bartlett, the adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City
Council of the City.of Huntington Beach adjourned to June 18, 1975 at 7:00 P.M.
in the Council Chamber. Motion carried.
