City Council of the City of Huntington Beach to order at 7:00 P.M. ROLL CALL Present: Bartlett,.Wieder, Coen, Pattinson (Shenkman arrived at 7:10 P.M., Gibbs arrived at 7:45 P.M.) Absent: Siebert APPOINTMENT AND RE -APPOINTMENT - RECREATION AND PARRS COMMISSION - JENSEN/OSSNESS On motion by Pattinson, second Coen, Council appointed Dr. Marilyn Jensen to the Recreation and Parks Commission for a term to expire 6/30/81, and re -appointed William Ossness to the Library Board for a term to expire 6/30/81. Motion carried unanimously. REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION - MEMBER EXCUSED On motion by Coen, second Bartlett, Council excused Lloyd Granger from the Redevelop- ment Commission, with direction that he be requested to re -submit his application .at such time as he is available to serve. Motion carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: Bartlett, Coen, Shenkman, Pattinson NOES: None ABSENT: Gibbs, Siebert ABSTAIN: Wieder APPOINTMENTS - LIBRARY BOARD APPOINTMENTS - DAVENPORT/ROLON The following applicants were interviewed by the City Council for appointment to the Library Board: Lawrence Rolon, Ms. Lee Trubovitz, Marguerite Davenport. The appli- cation of Dr. Donald Shipley was also considered, however, he was unavailable for the interview. Discussion was held between Council on the availability of Donald Shipley to serve on.the Library Board and it was generally agreed that since he had had the oppor- tunity, throughout past years, of giving service in so many capacities to the City, he could lend invaluable service to the City in the capacity of Lifetime Advisor to the Library Board. On. motion by Pattinson, second Bartlett, Council appointed Lawrence Rolon and Ms. Lee Trubovitz to four-year terms on the Library Board, and Dr. Donald Shipley as a Lifetime Advisor to the Library Board. It was then.ascertained that Lee Trubovitz would be ratable to serve as she had a prior casmaitment on Library Board meeting nights which would prevent her from attending.. Page #2 - Council Minutes - 10/25/77 Councilwoman Gibbs arrived at the Council meeting. the motion made by Pattinson, second Bartlett, was withdrawn. On motion by Gibbs, second Bartlett, Dr. Donald Shipley was appointed in the capacity of Lifetime Advisor to the Library Board. Motion carried unanimously. On motion by Wieder, second Gibbs, Council appointed Lawrence Rolon and Marguerite Davenport to serve on the Library Board for the term ending June 30, 1981. Motion carried unanimously. f APPOINTMENTS - REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION - JEAN/ANDREASSEN The following applicants were interviewed by the City Council for appointment to the Redevelopment Commission: Ardyce Larson, Floyd Patrick, Sissel Andreassen, Thomas Harmon, James Kelly, Jean -Paul Jean and Gerald Gentilini. On motion by Wieder, second Gibbs, Council appointed Jean -Paul Jean to serve on the Redevelopment Commission for the term ending June 30, 1981, Sissel-Andreassen to serve on the Redevelopment Commission for the term ending June 30, 1980, and Thomas Harmon to serve -on the Redevelopment Commission for the term ending June 30, 1980. Motion carried unanimously. David Garofalo, Redevelopment Commissioner, suggested that it would be helpful in the future, when interviewing for various Boards and Commissions if the Chairman to that Board or Commission sit in on the interviews in order to ask pertinent questions pertaining to the functioning of said Board or Commission.., ADJOURNMENT On motion by Wieder, second Gibbs, the adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach adjourned to Monday, October 17, 1977 at 6:30 P.M.
