GARFIELD/GOLDENWEST AREA - REVIEW FOR POSSIBLE INCLUSION IN
GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT NO. 79-2
June Catalano gave a brief presentation on the Garfield/Goldenwest
area.
Commission discussion ensued, with the following points of view
expressed by individual members:
Commissioner Bazil would prefer to see the area remain at its
present residential designation; he would, however, like to see
some consideration given to industrial as an alternative for the
existing Cambro plant.
Commissioner Cohen would like to see additional information (fiscal
impacts, the housing element, etc.) before making any type of
change to the general plan designations in this area.
Commissioner Higgins agreed that additional studies are necessary
for the area, but added that he would not like to see industrial
in the general area.
Commissioner Russell said that some industrial in the area would
be desirable, with consideration of some mixed uses such as
industrial/residential. He indicated that he would prefer to see
this become a part of General Plan Amendment 79-3, rather than
include it in the upcoming 79-2.
ON MOTION BY BAZIL AND SECOND BY RUSSELL THE COMMISSION DIRECTED
STAFF TO SET THIS REQUEST FOR GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT AS PART OF
GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT NO. 79-3, BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE:
