HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-08-24MINUTES Council Chamber, City hall Huntington Beach, California Monday, August 24, 1987 A tape recording of this meeting is on file in the City Clerk's Office Mayor Kelly called the adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach to order at 5:15 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Winchell, Finley, Kelly, Erskine, Green, Bannister Mays (arrived at 5:30 p.m.) Absent: None CLOSED SESSION Mayor Kelly called a Closed Session of Council to consider personnel matters pursuant to Government Code Section 54957. RECESS - RECONVENE The Mayor called a recess of Council. at 5:15 p.m. The meeting was reconvened at 7:30 p.m. 8/17/87 ACTION RE CITY ADMINISTRATOR RECONSIDE W - CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S $ETIF, DATE OF 10/16/97 ACCEPTED - INTERIM ACTING CITY ADMINISTRATOR APPOINTED EFFECTIVR $/25/87 - PAUL COOK A motion was made by Erskine, seconded by Green, to reconsider the action of August. 17, 1987 regarding the City Administrator. The motion to reconsider carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: Winchell, Mays, Erskine, Green, Bannister NOES: None ABSTAIN: Finley, Kelly ABSENT: None A motion was made by Erskine, seconded by Green, to rescind and strike the entire motion from the record that was made on August 17, 1987 pertaining to the City Administrator. The motion carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: Winchell, Mays, Finley, Kelly, Erskine, Green, Bannister NOES: None ABSENT: None Page 2 - Council Minutes - 8/24/87 A motion was made by Mays, seconded by Erskine, to set.the date of October 16, 1987 as the date of the retirement of Charles W. Thompson as City Administra- tor. The motion carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: Winchell, Mays, Finley, Kelly, Erskine, Green, Bannister NOES: None ABSENT: None A motion was made by Erskine, seconded by Finley, to appoint Paul Cook as the Interim Acting City Administrator for the period beginning September 25, 1987 until the appointment of a full-time City Administrator in replacement of Charles Thompson. The motion carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: Winchell, Mays, Finley, Kelly, Erskine, Green, Bannister NOES: None ABSENT: None INTERVIEW OF FIRMS SCHEDULED 8/31/87 - KORN/FERRY INTERNATIONAL/HUGHES, HEISS & ASSOC SHANNON & ASSOC - RECRUITMENT OF CITY ADMINISTRATOR Following discussion, it was the consensus of Council to interview the firms of Korn/Ferry International, Hughes, Heiss & Associates and Shannon & Associ- ates regarding the recruitment of a City Administrator. The interviews will be held at an adjourned meeting to be called for Monday, August 31, 1987 in Room B-8 of the Civic Center. RESOLUTION 5811 - ADOPTED - TAX RATE The Deputy City Clerk presented Resolution No. 5811 for Council considera- tion - 'A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CDUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH FIX- ING THE FISCAL YEAR 1987-M TAX RATE IN SAID CITY." ($.05490) On motion by Mays, second Green, Council adopted Resolution No. 5811 by the following roll call vote: AYES: Winchell, Mays, Finley, Kelly, Erskine, Green, Bannister NOES: None ABSENT: None Ail MMUMRUT Mayor Kelly adjourned the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach to 7 p.m., on Monday, August 31, 1987.
