PROLQ SUL OF MERE CABLE TELEVISION Councilman Kelly presented a report on the proposed sale of the cable televi- sion system owned by Rogers Cable in Huntington Beach, Westminster, Fountain Valley and Stanton. NEGOTIADONS RE EQUIDLE SALE OF P T CITIES BUY T RIGHTS T ROGERS CABLE - CITE UBGED 10 NEW—TIAT'E TOGETHER Carl Pilnick, President of Telecommunications Management Corporation, reviewed the options available to the City regarding the negotiations concerning the possible sale of Public Cable Television Authority and member cities buy-out rights to Rogers Cable. He reviewed the summary of the document prepared by Telecommunications Management Corporation titled Public Ownership, Financing and MAnagement- f T 1 vi i n m -V m I -P TA Ownership Interest Mav 1998. Mr. Pilnick urged the cities to negotiate with Rogers Cable as a group, rather than as individual cities. Discussion was held regarding the possibility that if the matter were not resolved in the near future it could go into litigation. Allen Watts, attorney representing the Public Cable Television Authority, addressed Council and stated he believed the buy out provisions in the agreement were valid. Fie reviewed the history of the agreement as it pertains to the buy out provision. Rage 2 - Minutes - 7/11/88 Discussion was held between Council and Deputy City Attorney Sangster regard- ing a possible recess into Closed Session of Council. A motion was made by Bannister, seconded by Winchell, to urge all the cities to keep together and negotiate together regarding the negotiations concerning the possible sale of the Public Cable Television Authority and member cities buy-out rights to Rogers Cable.
