HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-07-23MINUTES CITY COUNCIL/REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY Room B-8, Civic Center Huntington Beach, California Monday, July 23, 1990 Mayor Mays called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council/ Redevelopment Agency of the City of Huntington Beach to order. ROLL CALL PRESENT: MacAllister, Winchell, Green, Mays, Silva, Erskine ABSENT: Bannister PUBLIC COMMENTS Chuck Scheid spoke regarding the costs of Central Park Projects. He stated he favored Alternative #1 and a survey instead of ballot measure. Thomas West, President of Goldenwest Swim Club Support Group, spoke in favor of adding swimming facilities for recreational and competitive swim sports to the project. John Fisher questioned funding of the park projects and the use of Park Acquisition and Development Funds for the improvements being made. Don Peters., Executive Director of SCATS Gymnastics, spoke in favor of having a facility at Central Park for SCATS and said there were other funding options that would not require the use of City funds. (CityCouncil HUNTINGTON CENTRAL PARK ADVIS RY V TE — NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION (920.50) Considerable discussion was held regarding the feasibility of the City submitting this Advisory Bond Measure on the November ballot. Following discussion, a motion was made by MacAllister, seconded by Winchell, not to take proposed facilities to the voters in a general election vote. AYES: MacAllister, Winchell, Green, Mays, Silva, Erskine NOES: None ABSENT: Bannister A motion was made by Mayor Mays, seconded by Green, to make a determination that the need to take action regarding preparation of an (RF'P) Request for Proposal for a professional survey relating to uses of Central Park arose subsequent to the agenda being posted as specified in Government Code Section 54954.2(b)(2). The motion carried by the following roll call vote: 173 Page 2 - Council/Agency Minutes - 7/23190 AYES: MacAllister, Winchel1, Green, Mays, Silva, Erskine NOES: None ABSENT: Bannister A motion was made by Mayor Mays, seconded by Green, to direct staff to prepare an RFP for a Professional Survey relating to the proposed uses of Central Park. AYES: MacAllister, Winchel1, Green, Mays, Silva, Erskine NOES: None ABSENT: Bannister ADJOURNMENT Mayor Mays adjourned the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach at 7:15 P.M to 5:30 P.M., Monday, August 6, 1990, in Room B-8, in the Civic Center.
