AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE PLAYING OF ANY GAME OF POOL,
BAGATELLE, BILLIARDS, OR BOWLING WITHIN THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH, OR MAINTAINING A PLACE WHERE SUCH GAMES ARE PLAYED,
EXCEPT IN THE MANNER HEREIN AFTER PROVIDED PRESCRIBING A
PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE WITH.
The Board of Trustees of the City Of Huntington Beach do ordain as follows.
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons, firm or corporation
within the City of Huntington Beach, to establish, keep, maintain or carry on a place
where the games of Pool, Bagatelle, Billiards, or Bowling may be played for hire or any
other consideration, without first obtaining a license from the City Clerk and conforming
to the requirements here in after provided.
Section 2. All rooms where in the games of Pool, Bagatelle, Billiards, or Bowling
are licensed to be played or carried on within the City of Huntington Beach shall be on
the ground floor next adjoining the public street, with glass front covering at least two
thirds of the entire street frontage of said room, and it shall be unlawful to place or have
any obstructions, such as blinds or curtains between the glass front of said room in which
the said games of Pool, Bagatelle, Billiards, or Bowling are played or carried on, or to use
any stained, ground, painted, or chipped glass or other obstructions within or before said
glass front which will tend to prohibit the free and unobstructed view of the a
forementioned games at all times from the public street.
All of the said glass front must be kept ordinarily clean and free from dirt.
Section 3. It shall be unlawful to have, keep or maintain any anti-room, cellar or
garret in connection with any room where in the games of Pool, Bagatelle, Billiards or
Bowling are played or carried on within the City of Huntington Beach, to have any
connection what ever with any room, where in any other business is carried on for profit
or pleasure or club purposes, or for sleeping, or living rooms.
Section 4. It shall be unlawful for the owner, proprietor, or agent of any room
where in the games of Pool, bagatelle, Billiards, or Bowling are played or carried on
under the provisions of this ordinance to conduct or allow the same to be conducted
between hours of 11:30 P.M. and 6 o'clock A.M. of the following morning of any day.
Section 5. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons, firm, or corporation who
has been licensed to carry on the games of Pool, Bagatelle, Billiard, or Bowling under
any ordinance of the City of Huntington Beach, to permit or allow any person under the
age of sixteen years to play at said games, or loiter about the rooms where said games are
played, without the written consent of their parents or guardians.

Section 6. Any violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed a
misdemeanor and every person found guilty of violating any of its provisions, shall, upon
convictions there of, be fined not to exceed $50.00 or be imprisoned not more than ten
days, or be punished by both such a fine and imprisonment. And the City Marshall shall
forth with proceed to have the license of any such convicted person cancelled accordingly
to ordinance No. 10 Section 14 there of, "An Ordinance providing for the licensing and
regulating certain kinds of business carried on within the City of Huntington Beach."
Section 7. All ordinances and parts of ordinances conflict with this ordinance are
hereby repealed.
Section 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause
the same to be published once in the Huntington Beach News, a newspaper published and
printed in the said city of Huntington Beach, and there upon and there after it shall take
effect and be in full force and effect.

correct copy of an ordinance of the City of Huntington Beach Numbered 14, and entitled,
"An Ordinance prohibiting the playing of any games of Pool, Bagatelle, Billiards,
or bowling within the city of Huntington Beach. Or maintaining a place where such
games are played, except in the manner here in after provided, prescribing a penalty for
violation there of, and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here
with."
