AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED
ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, OF THE
FOLLOWING PROPOSITION: "SHALL EACH MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH RECEIVE AS
COMPENSATION FOR HIS SERVICES AS SUCH MEMBER THE SUM OF FOUR
DOLLARS PER MONTH PAYABLE MONTHLY.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach do ordain as Follows:
Section 1. It is hereby ordered that at the next general election of this City, to-
wit, the General Election to be held on the second Monday in April, 1910, in the City of
Huntington Beach, County of Orange, State of California the following proposition be
submitted to the qualified Electors of the City of Huntington Beach, to-wit:
"Shall each member of the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach
receive as Compensation for his services as shuch member the sum of Four Dollars, per
month payable monthly?"
Section 2. That the official ballot used as such election, besides the other
things required by law. Contain the following question in the following manner.
"Shall each member of the Board of Trustees of the City Yes.
of Huntington Beach receive as Compensation for his
services as such. Member the sum of Four Dollars, per No.
month payable monthly"?
If an Elector shall at the said Election have Stamped a cross (x)in the voting
square after the printed word"Yes" his vote shall be counted in favor of the proposition;
if he shall have stamped a cross (x) after the printed work"No" his vote shall be counted
against the adoption of the same.
Section. 3. If a majority of such Electors voting at such election shall vote in
favor thereof, then such trustee or Trustees shall receive the Compensation specified in
the call submitting such question at such Election; such compensation to begin on the
first day of the month next succeeding the canvass of the return of such Election, and the
amount so fixed shall, from such date, be a regular charge against such city, payable the
same as other fixed salaries are paid.
Section, 4, All Ordinances or Parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
Section. 5. The City Clerk shall Certify to the passage of this Ordinance, and
cause same to be published once in the "Huntington Beach news," A newspaper printed

and published in the City of Huntington Beach, California, and thereupon and thereafter
it shall take effect and be in full force.

certify that the foregoing ordinance was read to the Board of Trustees of the said City of
Huntington Beach on Feb. 7. 1910, and was passed at a regular meeting of the said Board
of Trustees held on the 21st day of Feby. 1910, by the following vote:
Ayes: Helme, Howard, Stewart, Manning.
Noes: Warner.
Absent: None.

Huntington Beach, hereby Certify that the foregoing Ordinance is a true and correct copy
of an ordinance of the City of Huntington Beach, Numbered"44" and entitled An
ordinance providing for the submission to the qualified Electors of the City of Huntington
Beach, California, of the following proposition: "Shall each Member of the board of
trustees of the City of Huntington Beach receive as compensation for his services as such
member the sum of Four Dollars, per month payable monthly" ? and that the same was
published in the Huntington Beach News a newspaper printed and published in the City
of Huntington Beach according to law, on the 24th day of Feby. 1910.
