AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF h'UNTITTGTON BEACH,
CP.LIFORMA, PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUING OF BONDS
OF. THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, AUTHORIZED AT
A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION, HELD IN SAID CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ON FRIDAY, THE 24th DAY CF
FEBF.UARY, 1922, FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE ACgUISI- i
TION, CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION BY SAID CITY
OF CERTAIN TIMCIPY-L ITJrPROVh11,1ENTS.
WHERE-AS, the Board of Trustees of the said City of 1
Huntington Beach, at a regular meeting of the said Board, held I
on the 19th day of December, 1921, by a vote of more than two-
t-1nirds of all its members, duly passed a resolution determining
that the public interest and necessity demand the acquisition,
construction and completion by said City of Huntington Beach of
certain municipal improvements, to uit :

(1 ). The acquisition, construction and completion of
a building for municipal uses, to wit:' A building to be used as

and for a City Hall and Jail and other municipal purposes includ-
ing all gurialture and fixtures necessary to and convenient for
the use thereof.
(2). The acquisition of fire apparatus end equipment
for the prevention of fires within the City �of Hunti ton Beach

WHEREAS, said resolution was approved by the President
of the Board of Trustees of said City of Huntington Beach and

i attested by the City Clerk and ex-officioI Clerk of the Board of
Trustees of said City on said 19th day of December, 1921, and
. WHEREAS, the said Board of Trustees did thereagter at
a subsequent meeting of said Board, held on the day of i

January, 1922, by the vote of more than two-thirds of all its i
members duly pass and adopt an Ordinance of said City, calling a
special election to be held i s

California, to be held on the 24th day 'of February, 1922, for the
object and purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said
City,. the following ar000sitions for the purposes set forth in '
said Ordinance , to-wit :
(1). Shall. the City of Huntington Beach., California,
incur a. bonded debt in the sum of $60, 000. 00 for the object and
purpose of the acquisition, construction and completion of a build-
ing for municipal uses, to-Tit : A building to be used as and for
a City Hall and Jail, and other municipal purposes, including all
furniture and fixtures necessary to and convenient for the use
thereof.
(2). ,hall the City of Huntington Beach, Cal ifo rr.i ia.,
incur a bonded debt in the sum of $10, 000. 00 for the object and
purpose of the acquisition of fire apparatus and equipment for .the
prevention of fires within the City of . Huntingtcn Beach,, and
thr + +AS, said Special i!.unicipal Election was..-held in said
City of Huntington Beech, on the 24th d.ay of February, 1922, as pro- �
vided in said Ordinance calling the same, and by laud for holding
municipal Elections in said City and said proposition of incurring
a bonded indebtedness hereinbefore mentionedand each of them received
the favorable; vote of more than two -thirds of the votes of the voters
voting at said Special Municipal Election, and
WHEREAS, all and singular, the provisions of an Act of
the Legislature of the State of California, entitled, "An Act Author-
izing the Incurring of Indebtedness by Cities, Towns and. Municipal
Corporations for Municipal Improvements and regulating the Acquisi-
tion, Construction and Completion thereof", which became a law, �
February 25, 1901, and the Acts Amendatory 'thereto, and the laws i
of the State of California, governing Cities of the sixth Class, and
all ordinances . of said City of Huntington Beach have been fully com-
plied with so , as to authorize .the issue of said Bonds, NOW THEREFORE,
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF HUN�MNGTON BEACH DO

SECTION 1 That Bonds of the said City 'of Huntington Peach,,.=
.California, in the sun of $60, 000. 00 be issued in accordance with he
provisionz of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California.,
entitled. "An Act Authori'zingthe Incurring of, Indebtedness by Citibsra

Araendator,; thereof and supplemental thereto , and the laws of
the State of California., governing Cities of the Sixth Class,

and the Ordinances of said City, for the purpose of the ac-
quisition, construction and completion by said City of Hunting- .
ton Beach of certain Ialunicipal Improvements , to wit;
The acquisition, construction and completion of a
' building for municipal uses, to-Wit; A building to be used as
and for a City Hall and Jail c�nd other municipal purposes, in-
cluding all furniture and fixtures necessary to:-and convenient
for t.lae, u se thereof.
1 SECTION 2. That sad d Bonds shall be Sixty ( 60) in
number; that they shall be designated as "Huntington Beach City
f .
Hall Bonds, 1922" and shell be numbered consecutively from One (1)
to Sixty (60) , both inclusive; that said Bonds shall be issued in
the denomination of One thousand Dollars ($1, 000. 00) each; that
the principal and interest thereof shall be payable in lawful
I money of the United States; that said Bonds shall be dated the
lst day of May, 1922, and bear interest at the rate of Six per cent
( 6%) per annum, payable semi-annually on the 1st day of November
and the 1st day of May, of each and every year, beginning on the
1st day of November, 1922, until the full amount of principal
and interest shall have been paid; that the principal and interest
of the said Bonds shall be payable at the Office of the City
Treasurer of the City of Huntington Beach, Ca.lifo rnia, in the follow-

the City of Huntington Beach, California, will Pay, to the bearer at
the office of the City Treasurer of said City of Huntington Beach,
in the City 'of Huntington Beach, California, the sun, of One
'hound Dollars ($1 , 000. 00) with- interest thereon at the rate of
Six per cent (c%) -per annum, payable se:n.i-annually an the ltit day of
November and the . lst day of May of each year, beginning November 1st,
1922 at the office .of the City Treasurer of said City Of Huntington
Beach, in the City of Huntingtoh Beach, California, upon the -ore-
sentation and surrender of the interest coupons hereto attached.

This Bond is issued in pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the I
Legislature of the State of California, which became a haw, ' February ,
25, 1901, and ' all 'amendments thereto , authorizing the incurring of i
indebtedness by Cities for Municipal Improvements.

It is further certified that all requirements of the
Constitution and Lars of the State of California and all Ordin.,u7ces
of said City of Huntington Beach, have been fully complied with by
the proper officers in the issuing of this Bond; that this issue
of Bonds has been authorized by a vote of more than two-thirds
of the duly qualified graters of said city , voting at a Special
Municipal Election, held in the said City on the 24th day of
February, 1922, and that the total amount of this issue, together
with all other indebtedness of said City, does not exceed the limit
prescribed by the Constitution and Laws of the State of California.
That before or at the tune of incurring the indebtedness evidenced
hereby, provision has been made for the collection of an annual tax
sufficient to pay the interest of such indebtedness, as it falls
due, and also. a provision to constitute a sinking fund for the pay
ment of -the principal thereof on or before Maturity.
IN VTITNESS 'VIHEREOF, the City of Huntington Beach has
caused this Bond to be signed by the Executive of said. I11unicipality,
to ti-rit: The President of the Board of Trustees of said City, and
also by the Treasurer of said City and to be countersigned by the Clerk

SECTION 7. TMt the President of the Board of
Trustees .of said City of Huntington Beach and the Treasurer of
said City of Huntington Beach, are hereby authorized and directed
to sign all of said Bonds and the City Clerk is hereby authorized
and directed to countersign and to affix the corporate seal of
said City to all of said Sixty "Huntington Beach City Hall Bonds,
1922" and all of said Ten "Huntington ueach Fire Apparatus Bonds,
19221 1, and the City Treasurer of said City. is hereby authorized and
directed to sign the interest coupons on said _Uonds and said Bonds
shall be delivered by said City Clerk to said Cj,-t-y Treasurer in
such amount as the Bo'drd of Trustees of said City may from time
to time determine, and said City Treasurer is hereby authorized and
directed to sign .all the interest coupons by his lithographic or
engraved signature. -
SECTION 8. That the proceeds of the sale of said
"Huntington Beach City Mall Bonds; 192211, shall be placed in the
treasury of said City to the credit of a fund to be known as the
"City Hall Fund, 1922" , which proceeds shall be applied exclusively
to the purpose of the actluisition, construction and completion by
said City of Huntington _ Beach of certain municipal improvement ,
to-wit: The acquisition, construction and completion of to-dit :
A building; to be used as and for a City Hall and Jail and other
municipal purposes, including all furniture and fixtures necessary
to and convenient for the use thereof.
SECTION 9. That the proceeds of the sale of said"Hunt-
ington Beach Fire Apparatus Bonds, 1922" shall be placed in the
treasury of said City to the credit of a fund to be known as the
"Fire Apparatus Fund, 192211, i^ahich proceeds stall be applied ex-
clusively to the purpose of the acquisition, construction and

completion by said City of Huntington 1jeach of a certain munici-
pal improvement , to-wit :
The acquisition df fire apparatus and equipment for the
prevention' of fires within the City of Huntington Beach.
i SECTION 10. .That for the purpose of securing and
providing for the principal and interes't of said "Huntington

Beach City Hall Bonds, 1922" , . there is hereby created a fund of
said City, to be known as ; "City Fall Bonds, 1922, Interest and
Sinking Fund". That all •money which shall from time to time be
placed in said fund shall be and is hereby set apart exclusively
f for the purpose of meeting all sums coming due for principal or
.interest of all of said"Hunting ton Beach City Hall Bonds, 1922"
which may be issued under the proceedings hereinbefore recited.
I `That for the purpose of paying the Principal and Interest of .said
Bonds, the hoard of Trustees of said City shall at the time of fix-
ing the General Tax bevy and in the-manner for such General Tax_ Levy
provided, levy and collect annually a. taxsufficient to pay the
interest of- such indebtedness as it falls due, and also to consti-
tute a sinking fund for the payment of the Trincipal thereof on or
before maturity. Said tax shall be in addition to all other taxes i
levied for municipal purposes and shall be collected at the same
time and in the same manner as other municipal tapes are collected,
and forthwith, as collected, shall be turned over to and paid into

said "City Hall Bonds, 1922, Interest and Sinking Fund", and be
I
used for no other purpose than the payment of. said Bonds and the
interest thereon.
SECTION 11. That for the purpose of securing and provid-
ing for the Prinicipal an•d Interest of said "Huntington Beach Fire

Apparatus Bonds, 1.922113, there is hereby created a fund of said City,
to be known as "Fire Apparatus Bonds , 1922, Interest and Sinking
Fund". That all bf the money which shall f. ror.r time to time 'db
placed in said fund shall be and is hereby set impart exclusively for
the purpose of meeting all sums coming due for the Principal and

Interest of all of said "Huntington Beach Fire Apparatus Bonds,
192211, which may be issued under the proceedings hereinbefore
recited. That for thepurpose of paying the Principal and Interest
of said Bonds , the Board of Trustees of said City sha,1.1 at the
time of fixing the General Tax Levy and in the manner for such
General tax Levy provided, levy and collect annually a tax suffi-
cient to pay the interest of such indebtedness as it falls due, and
also to consi-titute a sinking fund for the payment of the Principal
thereof on or before maturity. Said tax .shall be in addition to
all other taxes levied for municipal purposes and shall be collected
at the same t iMe and in the same manner as other municipal taxes �-re
collecLt.•ed, and forthti ith, as collected, shall be turned over to and
Paid into said "Fire Apparatus Bonds, 1_922, Interest end Sinking Fund",
and be used for no other purpose than the payment of said Bonds and
the interest thereon.
SECTION 12. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage

` and adoption of t1jis Ordinance and shall cause the same to be pub-
lished by one in sertion in the Huntington Beach News , a weekly
newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in said City
of Huntington Beach, and hereby designated for that purpose.
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after the passage thereof.
THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE was passed and adopted at a reg-
ular adjourned meeting of the Board of Trustees of said. City of
Huntington Beach, held on the day of 1922, by
