AN ORDINAITCE-OPTHT+J CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REGULATING TIM, USE
OP MOTOR VEHICLES UPON TP1E BEACH':-OF T11-Mi PACIFIC OCEAN.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach,:d6
ordain as follows
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm., comp.:
any or corporation owning; or controlling any motor vehicle propelled
or operated by mechanical powe-r to operate, drive, propel or run,
or to. cause or permit any motor vehicle or ' other vehicle propelled
^power to be operated, driven, propelled or run up-
on the beach of the Pacific Ocean within the City of Huntington
Beach,, without a permit , therefore first had and obtained from the
Chief of Police of said City. I
SECTION 2. Any person, firm, company or corporation desir-
ing to operate any motor vehicle o7r vehicles upon the beach of
the Pacific Ocean within the City of Huntington Beach may apply
to the C hief of Police of said City for a permit so to do by an
application in writing. Such application shall state the time
and place for which said permit is desired, what protection will
be provided if any•, for the safety of the public , and 'shall state
the kind and character of the motor vehicle or vehicles to be
operated, the names of the persons to operate the vehicles or
vehicle and the naxie of the applicant and also such other inform-
ation as may be required from time to time 'by the Chief of Police. .
SECTION 3. Upon receipt of any application for at permit to' I
operate a motor vehicle or vehicles upon the beach of the Pacific
Ocean the chief of Police may interrogate and examine the appli-
cant or any person named therein as the driver or operator of any
motor vehicle. He may require such safe-guards for the protection
of the public as he may deer? -advisible. If he shall deem the apply
cant and the persons, to operate the ,motor vehicle or vehicles to be
properly qualified and if suitable safe-guards are provided for the
e
protection of the public he may issue a permit therefor. Any
person,. firm or corporation holding such a permit may operate or
cause to be operated a motor vehicle or vehicles in accordance •,pith
the terms thereof at the time and place in said permit specified.
SECTION 4. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of
the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine
of not exceeding Three Hundred Dollars ($300. 00) or by imprison-
ment for a. term not exceeding Ninety (90) days or by both fine
and imprisonment.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shell certify to the passage
and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the sazne to be

publishe'd in the Huntington Beach News , a weellily newspaper of

general circulatign, printed, published and circulated in the
City of Huntington Beach, California, and thirty days (30)
thereafter it shall take effec% and. be in force.
