HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #276 ORDINANCE NO.'*V7 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 255 ENTITLED "AN ORDINATCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REGULATING THE PARKING AND STANDING OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND OTHER VEHICLES UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS, HIGHWAYS, ALLEYS AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES OF SAID CITY AND REGULATING TRAFFIC IN CERTAIN OF THE PUBLIC ALLEYS OF SAID CITY AND REVEAL IN G ALL OR- DINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH." i The Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach do ordain as follows: l Section 1. That ordinance No. 255 of the City of Huntington Beach entitled, "An ordinance of the City pf Huntington Beach regulat- ing the parking and standing of motor vehicles and other vehicles upon the public streets, highways, alleys and other public places of said City and regulating traffic in certain of the public alleys of said City and repealing all ordinances in conflict herewiths" be amended by the addition thereto at the end of Section 5, thereof of a new Section to be known. as Section 52 which Section shall read as follows: Section 52. It shall be unlawful for any person riding, driv- ing, operating or in charge of or having the custody or control of any automobile, motor vehicle or any other vehicle to cause or per- mit said automobile , motor vehicle or other vehicle to be parked, stand or remain standing on any public street,highway, alley or public place in the City of Huntington Beach for a period of more than 30 consecutive minutes between the hours of -2,:',0.0 o 'clock A. Me and 5:00 o clock .Ae M. of any day. ' Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspaper of general circule- tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Huntington Beach, California. This ordinance is necessary for. the immediate I preservation of the public peace, health and safety and the facts constituting such urgency are as follows: The present custom of allowing automobiles, motor vehicles and other vehi-c.les to remain standing in the public streets and highwaysAof the City of Huntington Beach renders it impossible to keep the said public streets and' highways in a clean and wholesome condition by the use of a street sweeper and this ordinance is designed to stop this practice and allow the streets to be swept between the hours of :2:00 o 'clock A. Me. and .5:00 o ' clock A. Me , therefore this ordinance shall be in force and take effect from and after it's passage. Passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach and ap roved by the President of said Board this ✓� Day of 1925.
