HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #289 I - O R D I N A N C E No 2 89 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF- HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING ORDINANCE No*209 OF SAID CITY ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF' THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH , CALIFORNIA ESTABLISH- ING A BUSINESS AND RESIDENCE DISTRICT IN SAID CITY AND PROHIBITING THE ESTABLISH- MENT OR MAINTENANCE OF CERTAIN BUSINESSES AND INDUSTRIES IN SAID DISTRICTS*" . The people of the City of Ik ington Beach do ordain as follows: Section 1* That Section 1 of Ordinance No 209,as amended, entitled " An Ordinance of the City of Huntington Beach9 California, establishing a Business and Residence District in said Citg, and prohibiting the establishment or maintenance of certain businesses and industries in said districts" be and is hereby amended so as to _ read as follows: "Section 1. All property in and part of the City of Huntington Beach situate within 250 feet of any public school building is hereby established and declared to be the residence district of said City* "All that portion of the City of Huntington Beach within the following described boundaries is hereby established and declared to be Business District No 1 of said City ,t o-wit: "Beginning at the point of intersection of the center line of First Street.-projected with the Pacific Ocean and running thence Northeasterly to the intersection of the said center line of First Street with the Southwesterly lineproected of the first alley Northeasterly from Ocean Avenue; thence Northwesterly along said last mentioned line to its intersection with the Northwesterly line j produced of the first alley Southeasterly from Third Street;thence i Northeasterly along the last mentioned line to its intersection with the Southwesterly line of Olive Avenue;thence Northwesterly along j I the Southwesterly line of Olive Avenue to its intersection with the Southeasterly line of the first alley Northwesterly from Third Street; ` 8 I i �r l' thence Northeasterly and Northerly along the last mentioned alley line to its intersection with the South line of Acacia Avenue; thence Westerly and Northwesterly along said last mentioned line to its intersection witIz the Southwesterly line of Sixth Street ; thence Southwesterly along said last mentioned line to its inter- section -with the Northeasterly line of Orange Avenue; thence Southeasterly along said last mentioned line to its intersection with the Southeasterly line of the first alley Northwesterly from Pifth Street produced Northeasterly; thence Southwesterly along the last mentioned alley line produced to its intersection with the Southwesterly line of the First alley Northeasterly from Ocean Avenue; thence Northwesterly along the last mentioned line produced i to its intersection with the center line of Sixth Street; thence Southwesterly along the center line of Sixth Street and a prolongation — thereof to the Pacific Ocean; thence Southeasterly along the mean high tide line of the Pacific Ocean to the point of beginning." Section 2. The adoption of this Ordinance shall not,nor are its or any of its provisions intended to limit or prohibit the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach from adopting such ordinances amendatory hereto, in the exercise of Police Power for the preservation of public peace,health, safety and welfare, or in emergencies, or for public convenience.-as the Board of Trustees may deem necessary. Section 3, The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News,a weekly newspaper printed9 published and circulated in the said City of Huntington Beach,and this Ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days after canvass of the election at which this Ordinance is submitted if the same is adopted � : by the requisite number{�' of votes of the electors voting at said election.
