AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 150 OF SAID CITY, EN_ TITLED "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSMENT AND COLLECTION OF CITY TAXES" AS AMENDED. The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach do ordain as follows: Section 1: That Section 15 of Ordinance No. 150 entitled "An Ordinance of the City of Huntington Beach Providing I for the Assessment and Collection of City Taxes" as amended, be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows: "Section 15: The City Council shall meet at its usual place of meeting on the second Monday in August of each year, at 7: 30 o' clock P. M. , and sit as a Board of Equali- zation, and shall continue in session from day to day until all the returns of the assessor have been rectified. The City Clerk shall be the Clerk of the Board of Equalization. " Section 2: That Section 23 of Ordinance No. 150, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows: I "Section 23. On or before the day when taxes are payable the Tax Collector must publish a notice specifying: (a) . That the taxes on all personal property secured by real property, and one-half of the taxes on all real property will be due on the first day of November, and_ will be delinquent on the fifth day of December next thereafter, at five o' clock P. M. , and that unless paid prior thereto eight (S�o) percent will be added to the amount thereof, and that if said one-half be not paid. before the twentieth day in April next, at five o' clock P. Mi. , an additional I \ three (W percent will be added thereto. That the remaining one-half ` of the taxes on all real property will be payable on and after the twentieth day of January next, and will be delinquent on the twentieth day of April next thereafter, at five o' clock P. M. , and. that unless m paid prior thereto three (3%) percent will be added to the amount thereof. (b) . That all taxes may be paid at the time the . first installment is due and payable. (c) . That said taxes will be due and payable to the Tax Collector or his deputy. at his office in the City of Hunting- ton Beach as designated in said notice and that the tax collector will keep certain hours at such office; such notice must be pub- lished for two weeks in the newspaper authorized to do the city advertising. " Section 3: That Section 27 of Ordinance No. 150, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows: "Section 27: On the fifth day of December of each year, at five o' clock P. M. , all taxes then unpaid, except the last installment of real property taxes, are delineuent, and thereafter the Tax Collector must collect, for the use of the city, an additional eight (8/o) percent thereon; provided, that if they be not paid before the twentieth day of April next suc- ceeding, at five. o' clock P. M. , he shall collect an additional three (3%) percent thereon. On the twentieth day of April of each year, at five o' clock P. M. , all the unpaid portion of the remaining one-half of the taxes on all real property is delinquent, and thereafter the Tax Collector must collect for .the use of the city an additional three ( 3�o) percent thereon; provided, that the entire tax on any real property may be paid i at the time the first installment, as above provided, is due and payable; and provided, further, that the taxes on all personal property unsecured by real property shall be due and. payable immediately after the assessment of said personal property / is made and provided further that the tax collector shall collect (\ � -2- - a- fifty cents additional on each parcel of property separately assessed., upon which there are unpaid taxes after the twentieth day of April of each year at five o' clock P. M. " Section 4: That a new section shall be added to Ordinance No. 150, as amended, to be numbered as Section 59a and inserted between Section 59 and Section 60, the same to read as follows: "Section 59a. That property heretofore or hereafter sold to the City of Huntington Beach for nonpayment of taxes be redeemed upon such terms and such- conditions and on the payment of such penalties and/or interest as are now provided by law for the redemption of property- sold to the State for non- payment of tares. " Section 5: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be printed in the Huntington Beach Jews, a newspaper printed, published and circu- lated in the City of Huntington Beach, and thirty (30) days thereafter it shall take effect and be in force.
