AN ORDINANCE PERMITTING THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH TO EXCEED THE 5% LIMITATION DURING THE FISCAL YEAR
1936-1937 FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING -
A BEACH PAVILION.
The People of the City of Huntington Beach do ordain as
follows:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Hunting-
tonaBeach is hereby authorized and permitted to expend during the
fiscal year 1936-1937 a sum of money not in excess of twenty-five
thousand ($25,000.0.0) dollars for the purpose of constructing a
Beach Pavilion, in accordance with such plans and specifications
as may be adopted by said City Council, and in the expending of
. said sum of money said City Council is hereby authorized and
permitted to exceed the expenditures, other than expenditures to
pay interest and redemption charges on bonds, incurred during the
year 1935-1936 in excess of five (5%) percent, said excess over
and above said five percent, however, shall not exceed said sum
of $25,000.00 for the purpose herein provided. The permission
herein granted is- pursuant to an Act of the Legislature entitled:
"An Act relating to and imposing limitations on expenditures by
counties, cities and counties, districts and other political sub-
divisions, under authority of section 20 of Article XI of the
Constitution of the State, approved June 25, 1935.11.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published by one
insertion in the Huntington Beach News, a newspaper printed, pub-
lished and circulated in said City of IHuntington Beach, and there-
upon and thereafter it shall take effect and be in force.
Passed and adopted by the People of the City of Huntington
Beach, this 14th day of April, 1936.

City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, do hereby certify
that the foregoing Ordinance was adopted by the vote of the
people of the City of Huntington Beach at the General Municipal
Election held on the 14th day of April, 1936, which election
,was canvassed by the City Council on the 20th day of April, 1936,
and by said City Council said Ordinance was eclared to be
adopted.
